My Favorites
Music: It's easier to say what I don't like in this instance, because my tastes are so diversified. I don't like rap and I don't like death metal. I'll listen to just about anything else. What I've been listening to lately: A little bit of everything, but mostly classic rock and Dave Matthews Band. TV Shows: Heroes, House, Bones, Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, Sanctuary, Firefly, SGU, Angel, Buffy, Nurse Jackie, True Blood--thank goodness for my DVR, because I just don't have the time or desire to tie myself to the television! Movies: Changeling, Stargate, What Dreams May Come, Air Force One, Shawshank Redemption, Lord of the Rings trilogy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Lion King, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monsters, Inc., A Knight's Tale, Hitch, The Princess Bride, Serenity, I Am Legend Books: There are so many books and so little space...I LOVE medieval literature. In pop culture, I enjoy almost anything by Michael Crichton. Some other recent titles I've enjoyed include The Memory Keeper's Daughter, Keeping Faith, Mistaken Identity, Water for Elephants, and Immortality. I tend to try to keep up with what my students find themselves absorbed in, so yes, I have read the Twilight series so I can keep abreast of what interests them. I also love the classics and will pick them up now and then. I am currently reading Company of Liars by Karen Maitland. Quotes: "As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives." --Henry David Thoreau==="An eye for an eye will make everyone blind."--Mahatma Gandhi===“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” --Ralph Waldo Emerson==="To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know that one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded! ”--Bessie Anderson Stanley, though widely incorrectly attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson==="No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."--Eleanor Roosevelt==="Loyalty to a petrified opinion never yet broke a chain or freed a human soul."--Mark Twain==="When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us."--Helen Keller==="I have accepted fear as a part of life - specifically the fear of change... I have gone ahead despite the pounding in the heart that says: turn back..."--Erica Jong==="Love people, use things. Never confuse these two."--Unknown==="Love always and deeply."--Unknown More About Me: I enjoy the simple things in life. I also enjoy getting to know genuine people. Feel free to stop by and say hello. Be yourself, be true to who you are, and we'll get along great! -
