When i was growing up we had verity shows on not only Ed Sulvian but there was a curcus show that had different circuses, wide world of soprts and cavalcade of sports showed different sports from around the world. Some times I have the feeling that most people come home tired, they want to turn off their minds and unwined they turn on the TV and for the most part it does not realy matter to them what is on. Do you agree with me on that and would you like to see shows like I described?

I don't watch telly to unwind. I need to be watching something which captures my attention. There are some telly shows I prefer to watch once they are released on dvd, because I feel that the ads can sometimes make what I'm watching seem disjointed. I really like watching The Drum on ABC News on weeknights and I also like the UK Antiques Roadshow which screens on GEM.

I rarely watch television anymore, i spend more time on the pc, or iPhone. Tv now is only bearable with a tivo because I can't stand all the ads. I'm not a fan of variety shows myself, i prefer shows like: Curb Your Enthusiasm, Naked Science, Afro Samurai.

I do actually watch and enjoy tv, but my issue is all the gratuitous violence, obscenities, porn, and yes, all the dumb commercials. I think the comedies aren' t really funny anymore. They're filled with innuendoes, and mostly story lines that aren't great. I like the older comedy shows better.

I also watch alot of older movies(even silents), and yes, black and white movies. I do like newer movies, but being able to go back in time and see the older films is fantastic to me. I still like the older stars over the newer ones. Some of these stars acted naturally with NO method to it. They were just that good.

I like to watch the law shows too. If you notice, these shows manage to stay on for long periods of time. ( no, I don't like the violence, but in order to have a law show, there has to be some) And they will keep showing them long after their demise on the regular networks.

If you have cable or sattelite, you can manage to find shows that are more informative, rather than just entertaining.

I appreciate having more variety to watch now, because when I grew up, we had a total of 4 stations to watch. The 3 major networks showed mainly the Vietnam war, and PBS just showed nature, or political shows, and opera. And on holidays? How about 3 football games, and the typical PBS lineup?( being a member of a family of 4 women, you can figure out what we watched-and it wasn't football!) We usually turned the stereo on.

Suzie PS, Please NO attacks from football fans!

Currently, there is only one show I like on TV. That's Chuck. I was a huge 24 fan when it was on TV, but it has since been canceled, so I'm down to just watching Chuck. I do occasionally watch Community or The Office, but the majority of my TV time is spent watching Football during season.

All the good shows are on Showtime and HBO. Women are too busy watching Survivor, American Idol, and Jersey Shore to figure that out.
