I love this show. Bear Grylls is a maniac!

I enjoyed watching survivorman, which is just...different. hauling your own camera gear around makes Les Stroud's show difficult, and I respect his tenacity and efforts.....but the knowledge I get from Bear far outweighs the other show.

Man vs. Wild teaches risky techniques, the "don't try this at home stuff" that should be in a show about survival. The eating bugs and carrion, the jumping into raging rivers, diving into caves, climbing cliffs...I love it!

There is no hesitation to prioritize needs, accomplish goals, kill food, and understand what's at stake. Leaving your attachments and comfort zones behind, and fighting the mental fight, to come out alive. Awesome!

Bear demonstrates fringe techniques backed up by tried and true methodology, and brain bending ingenuity. Clearly we're not all capable of doing things the way he does, but I love that he demonstrates disaster scenarios in real time. He punishes himself relentlessly to show you what to do when you fall through the ice, become stranded on a cliff face, come across a poisonous snake, or fall into a swift river........and all by example. I've gained so much from this show, that I bought his book.

I can't wait to see what this maniac demonstrates next.

I like both Survivor Man and Man vs. Wild, for different reasons, much like you said. I think it's funny how Lee Stroud can never seem to catch a fish. But I like his personality.

I like Les better. He's more of the 'average' people like us and he shows us how to be safe and survive longer. Bear seems to take too much risk...but the ladies seem to dig him lol
