Michael Jacksons' contribution to music was.....great. Decades of media coverage. It is tragic that his "strength" came from a source other than.....God.

I wish all threaders well.

This is just more evidence of our society's obsession with celebreties. They are awarded far more credit than is due and it is very disturbing. The very idea that actors and musicians are above the rest of us makes me want to vomit. Hello, Michael Jackson was just a person. Just because he was popular he was given satus befitting royalty.

I am more awed be people who serve rather than those who are served. Police, Firefighter, Armed Forces. And they arent perfect either but at least they put their lives on the line everyday for others.

The coverage was totally excessive. The bad thing is that it crowded out other truly important things i.e. the protests in Iran.

Now the news cycle is playing video footage of Michael Jackson's hair catching fire in '84. -Good job on keeping the public informed. Hopefully, we'll get to hear the latest on Kiera Knightley's hangnail. Will she need a manicure? Stay tuned...

Michael was talented like no other. Sadly, with all that talent and money he was not so happy. I believe that all behaviors are a result of things pushed way back in the mind, wheather good or bad. It's hard to decern when it's unleashed.

I liked Michael but like most icon's, he was still just a man with talent and flaws. Do we admire him any less? That's up to you.

When Michael died it was a total shock to all his fans. I was heart-broken. I still can't believe he's dead.

He was the King of Pop...he deserves to be remembered. He changed the music industry forever with his talent and style. He had a gift from God...and a loving soul.

One thing wrong in his life...he wasn't loved enough. He wasn't a happy person...but he felt truly alive when he spent time with his children, helped others, and entertained.

He was abused as a child. He never had a childhood, so when he grew up he was determined to have the things he didn't get as a child.

He loved children. He would NOT hurt them. He wanted to help the world, make unity, entertain, and live happy.

I will say...I LOVE the troops and I admire those who serve others. God Bless Them All.

Michael served others, too. That's one of the things that made him beautiful....helping people. That's real beauty...from the inside out.

R.I.P Michael...your fans will always love and remember you.

I think the media coverage highlights the impact of the 'hollywood syndrome'. It was when he died that I realised his tremendous contribution to music. Michael will be spoken of for years to come. As I reflect on his life the phrase 'stolen childhood' comes to mind.
