The Iberostar resorts in Punta Cana are nice. There are actually 3 that are interconnected. If you stay at the top resort you can visit the other two and dine at a combined 15 restaurants.

One cautionary tale...Punta Cana has some plusses and minuses.

Pro's-

1. Very beautiful

2. Pretty beaches

3. Isolated

Con's-

1. Isolated - NOTHING to do outside of the resorts

2. No indigenous culture. You aren't going to the Yucatan with an ancient Mayan heritage. This is a made-up place with no history.

3. The diving is terrible because the sea life has all been eaten by the impoverished.

4. Midnight swims? Nope. The US coast guard patrols and won't allow anyone in the water because of the Haitian/Dominican refugees trying to raft themselves to Puerto Rico. (US Soil)

5. If you pick a cheap resort you are stranded with nothing better to do for a long time.

Probably too late to mention this but I've been to the same resort I found relaxing but not worth it if your going single. I agree with you though it was too isolate and there wasn't enough activities forsingles. I found mostly couples and families there. But it was abeautifil place.

I'm going to stay at the brand new Majestic Elegance in January. I hope they work out the kinks. But it seems to be the best looking resort I've seen there thus far.
