Hello-

My friend and I are looking to plan a last minute short getaway to either the Caribbean or Bahamas on a cruiseship. We are both in our 30's and single and are wondering what everyone's thoughts are around which cruiseline might be best to go with. Has anyone done this type of cruise and who did you go with?

Thanks!

Our bunch of friends enjoys both Carnival and RC, but give the nod to Carnival for really good times. Perhaps a bit younger crowd, and though there were plenty of families (read as kids) running around, they also did liven up the place. May I suggest a balcony room one or two decks down from the main upper deck, and definitely not below the late-night lounge or any floor above with hard surfaces. We like the back of the boat. Haven't done a "short" cruise, so can't speak to that. We usually get an 8-night with no stops the first two days cause it takes us that long to unwind and realize we're on vacation. After that ...

I've never done this, and it whether or not you enjoy it would depend on your personalities, but Disney offers cruises.

I saw this video:

If you do take one, please post about your experience here. They seem to have popular destinations:

I saw part of 20/20 tonight. I have been on 3 cruises and I have never run across any of the incidences they mentioned. It's a big ship, so the liklihood of you running into one are very slim. If you do, leave the area. Like all news stories, they made it out to be a bigger deal than it really is. The accident in Italy was tragic, but that doesn't mean a bunch of cruise ships are going to start sinking. I went on Carnival, they are fun ships to go on. Since you want a short vacation, they do have 3-4 day cruises. Try one of those....have fun!
