Egypt....definitely. It's less than $4000 but doesn't include all the spending money needed. I was thinking about going there for 6 months to teach English....but that would probably be way to overwhelming.

Rome is wonderful, Paris is o.k., but the two places that I recommend are New Zealand and Ireland. They have to be two of the most beautiful places on Earth, the locals speak English, and the population is very friendly. I have traveled a bit, and I can honestly tell you that I could move to either place in a hearbeat. Plus, you can't beat a country that the sheep out number humans 10 million to 1

You're a new traveler on a budget, and you probably don't want to be bothered with driving a rental car in a big city. Fly to Washington, D.C. The public transportation goes from the airport to anywhere you want to be and is the cleanest I've ever seen. You could easily spend a week touring the Smithsonian museums, Holocaust museum, war memorials, etc. Mount Vernon is a boat ride away, and the White House, Ford Theatre, and Arlington Cemetary and several scenic neighborhoods are all reachable by walking or public transit. You'll learn about American history and see things that you'll never forget, including box cars used to transport the Jewish to death camps, Abraham Lincoln's blood on a pillow, Mr. Roger's sweater, and Dorothy's ruby slippers. Many, many things have no admission fee, and a week-long subway pass is somewhere in the neighborhood of $30. I've visited twice and I still haven't seen it all. If you're an arts and food buff, there are plenty of artsy offerings and great restaurants as well.

Where do I start. If I could travel around I'd go Egypt, Spain, Italy, Greece and France... in that order. Right now I'm planning a trip to Egypt in the spring. But if I had the resources and were a bit younger, backpacking around Europe would be great.

Scotland for the food, Ireland for the serious side of nature Vienna to be uninspired, Prague because you want to feel bad, Paris to let yourself be bored, Valencia because your tired and Alaska because your just want to be stiffled.

I would love to travel EVERYWHERE! So far have managed Ireland (many times), St. Maarten, Canada, cross country trip to California (surprised at what states I loved that I didn't give much thought to before being there), Florida (love it), Dominican Republic and Mexico. Love the Mexicans and Dominicans.

Ireland, definately Ireland, I'd go to County Cork and see the Aran Islands where all the famous cliffs of Ireland are. Plus I'd go tour Waterford, and Galway. They are all just so beautiful!
