That is the question!!!

So as a teacher, I have the wonderful blessing of being able to travel in the summers. And I was planning to go to China this summer.....

But I am suddenly feeling tempted to return to Italy and just live there for the summer. I have already been to a good chunk of Italy; including, Venice, all over Tuscany (Florence, Milan, Verona, Sienna etc), The Italian Riviera (Cinque Terra etc), Rome, Naples....and I loved ALL of it. I was thinking live in Florence...or maybe down the Amalfi Coast...

I must admit, part of the attraction to China is that I have never been there - its uncharted territory for me....its on my "list" of places I want to travel to. Plus I teach World History - so seeing the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Tianamen Square, Xian and the Terracotta Warriors etc would be both educational and AMAZING!!

But the attraction to Italy is that I ADORE Italy...the culture, the art, the history...and to be very honest....the men. I am a complete sucker for dreamy, schmoozy, gorgeous foreign men In addition to my silly romantic notions, none of my trips and travels in Italy have been more than 2 weeks. I believe living somewhere gives you a real feel for the culture - which would be AWESOME!!

So....do I return to my beloved Italy?? Or should I explore uncharted territory and go to China??? Any thoughts?

Have you thought about doing both? Going to China for maybe 2 weeks, and then spending the rest of the summer in Italy? If it's possible for you, you might want to check into doing that.

I think you should go back to Italy. I agree that the best way to really get the feel of a culture is to visit numerous times and stay for extended periods.

Personally, it's great to be able to travel and say "I've been there" but the most exciting part to me is to see how different cultures really live, and the best way to do that outside of immigration is an extended vaca. I envy the fact that you can do that!

Have fun whatever you decide to do!

Thanks for the thoughts so far

Alas, my funds do not allow me to do both I'm just happy I have the option to do either

But I think am leaning to Italy But we'll see. I am also applying for some "all-expenses paid" summer teaching international seminars and that could also change my plans. And that to say nothing of the fact that I may be engaged by this summer!!!

Regardless - I may still take one last hoorah trip abroad as a single woman (my man is a teacher, but works summers) before I get strapped to the old ball and chain

Yeah, if you can only do one, I'd say go back to Italy.
