OK folks, so we decided where to go for our honeymoon.

Maui!

We've got the tickets and the hotel booked already. Tickets were not bad, considering it's Hawaii, and the hotel is actually paid for by hotel points (very nice... saved 2k that way).

Anyway, does anybody have any suggestions on what to do while in Hawaii? Parks to visit? Places to go and see? We'll be there for a week (not longer unfortunately... she doesn't have as much vacation time).

Thanks in advance!

Maui.

One of my favorite islands! Almost bought a house there, a few years back.....

I assume you're staying on the western side.....Kaanapali or Kihei?

Lahaina is an old whaling town. You will want to spend a day there. Your hotel can tell you where to get a walking tour map of the town. There's probably 20-30 old buildings you can see. You'll see the old banyan tree.....big as the whole block!

Lots of shopping and galleries in Lahaina, as well as many restaurants.

If you want a luau.....Old Lahaina Luau.....is the best in the islands. Much better than any luau put on at the big hotels.

If you swim.....you will want to snorkel.....either over at Lanai (another island) or Molokini (even better snorkeling, it's an old volcano). Either will require a boat tour. Snorkeling is one of the more enjoyable things, absolutely! Even if you don't swim, they give you life vests; the water being so salty (especially close to land), it would be a crying shame to miss snorkeling.

Way up at Napili (north of Kaanapali) is good snorkeling that you can just walk into.....though the bay is rocky.

If you're adventurous.....two things.

The drive to Hana is an all-day, tortuous drive around the southeastern side to the south. Not so good for the driver, and sometimes the locals try to run you off the road for fun, but nice scenery.....also can be done in a tour van, if you must.....

Haleakala bike ride! The van picks you up at your hotel approx 2am, drives you to the top of Haleakala (volcano), above the clouds. It's high, cold (they give you rain suits) and you watch the sun come up above the clouds. After sunrise, you bicycle down.....it takes all morning, and by the time you reach the bottom, you've stripped back down to shorts and t-shirts! If you're going to do this, since they pick you up so early, I would schedule it as early in your week as possible, when you've yet to adjust to island time.....

If it was me.....I would definitely do a day in Lahaina.....Old Lahaina Luau.....and as much snorkeling as you can possibly get in!

Don't be surprised if you fall in love with the islands.....every single time I've ever gone.....every single island.....I have met people who went on vacation.....went back home.....and packed up and moved to the islands!

Matter of fact.....when did you say that honeymoon was? You need a tour guide? Heck, I'll even pay my own way!

We stayed in Kaanapali and went to the luau at Old Lahaina, it was great! Don't forget to try poi, it's a very interesting flavor, it's purple and paste like.

We also drove over to Wailea for lunch one day. We didn't do the road to Hana - not a fan of twisty roads and we didn't want to waste a day driving. We preferred to waste it at the pool.

We went whale watching, but I'm not sure you will be there when they are migrating. That was really cool.

Have fun and bring lots of cash because eating is very expensive.

My sister-in-law went to Maui at the end of January and said prices weren't as bad as I led her to believe. I wonder if the alcohol mark-up is more than here. I'd have a cocktail, but she's not a drinker.

I know nothing about Maui

Awww alright so I live there.

Ocean kayaking is fun...there are lots of companies that will take you out.
If you come during whale season you might even have a close encounter (I have in La Perouse bay) with a whale. Oh yeah and sometimes you can swim with wild dolphins in La Perouse bay too.

LaPerouse Bay, Maui

I like to hike on Maui and there are spectacular places to go. One of the best is Waihee ridge.

Waihee Ridge Trail

We have three ziplines too. The newest (and one I am gonna try soon) is this one:

Maui Zipline | Piiholo Ranch Zip Line in Hawaii

La Perouse bay used to have a place near by called the Aquarium that was one of the best places to snorkel on Maui, but I think it is closed now. Lanai is a great place to snorkel as well and you can take the ferry over fairly cheap from Lahaina or Maalaea harbor.

Watching the sunrise on Haleakala is awesome too....just dress warm as it can get very cold up there.

And if you see a guy driving a silver Honda Element fast....well that's me....just wave.

Oh yeah and our speed limits are a joke...no one really pays attention to them.
