I'm going later this month and would love any tips, not to miss sights, etc.

SO excited to get away for a few days!

I've gone and returned, so I thought I'd post a bit about my experience here.

In short, Tahoe is GORGEOUS. Very picturesque, everyone's very nice. We stayed in a friend's timeshare condo owned by a group called the Ridge Resorts and it was a great place to stay. The only criticism I have is that there was no AC and it got quite warm in the unit at night....otherswise the place was immaculate, well stocked in terms of kitchen appliances, cleaning supplies, etc, nicely decorated and very comfortable. I would stay there again.

We went out and gambled one night, it was OK but honestly if you're very into this, the strip at Tahoe is limited (four casinos total) so I'd just go to Vegas for the primo gambling.

The lake itself was magnificent. We were a large group (14 people, including 5 kids) and went to Zephyr Cove, which was great. Parking is convenient, spacious, clean and shady picnic areas with grills and a very clean beach. The lake is COLD but crystal clear. There's a bit of pebbles which might hurt the tenderfooted right where the water breaks on the shore but beyond that is soft, clean sand. The water is VERY pure. Despite the cold temperatures I spent a lot of time in the lake and I was as sad as the little kids were when it was time to leave...lol

I definitely recommend Tahoe for a great getaway, especially if you are in California.

Oh my stars!!! I've ALWAYS wanted to go to Lake Tahoe! I've wanted to go see the area where they filmed the show "Bonanza". They used to have a replica of the house where the Cartwrights lived and everything.

I hope to at least go see the land one day. It looks gorgeous. I'm glad you had a good time, Lori. Thanks for sharing your trip w/ us

Thanks SouthernSweetie! I need to upload some of the photos I took to this thread! I'll try to remember to put them on my thumb drive tonight so I'll have them here tomorrow.

It's beautiful.

I had the happiest day of my life visiting the lake when I was staying in near by Truckee.

Wonderful.

Would go again in a heartbeat.
