My little grommet asked me Daddy, I want to learn how to surf. My goodness, I haven't surfed in 15 years. I can never figure out why I stopped. The corporate life took over and I became a cubicle junkie. Thank goodness the gym is across the street.

I broke out my old board and took the kid to the beach. She learned how to paddle, position herself on the board and learned how to sit without falling off. She made it to her knees a couple of times. I guess I have to work on her pop-up A very good day.

Now, it is time for me to get off my bottom and build up the surfing arms. I wonder if it is like riding a bike. When will I stand up on my stick again? It has been years.

Has anyone been away from surfing and gone back lately? Any tips for an old man?

From one "old man" to another may I suggest: longboards, fish, and get your child lessons.

Seriously there have to be more surfers here. I grew up in San Diego and have always loved surfing (shortboard, primarily). Nothing like heading down to Baja either. I miss Cali!

THat is true must be more out. Ther are big time surfer here on the island of vancouver which is the rock to us.


But where we surf is long beach near Tofino as most people know as. But if that all for now congraads to us.
