The Winter X Games start this week in Aspen, CO Any predictions on medal winners in boarder X, Sno X, or superpipe?

Also, hot on their heels is obviously the Winter Olympiad from Vancouver, BC. Are there any winter sports freaks out there who are making the trip to the beautiful Canadian city to watch the games? I wish I was.

I love the Olympics and can't wait until they start, but I'd rather watch the winter ones in front of the TV where it is warm.

I was very sad that Chicago didn't get the 2016 Summer games.

I'm not up on Winter Olympics but I did watch the Canadian Opening tonight. Beautiful.

I've been to Canada 4xs and love it up there.

I thought the opening ceremony was great. Using the floor as a large projection screen was awesome. There were some great effects.

I hope I'm not out of line here, but the opening ceremonies were a little....I don't know, and I have to get some things off my chest. Not trying to offend anyone, I love Canada, and Canadians, and I'm pulling for the Canadians to win gold in Ice Hockey this year....go Sydney Crosby!

I loved the heavy involvement of the aboriginal nations of Canada, I loved the floor projection, and the first segment of "history of Canada."

Right after the whales part, I got lost. It seemed like there were things in there that were so far fetched, such a long shot, that it only made sense to the director of ceremonies. The thing I kept thinking was wow, they're letting this go on for a little too long, and the next theme went on for too long, and the next and then next.

It seemed like the the concept of an athletic olympiad of nations was lost in that whole...impressionist modern dance interpretation of....what?

Over here, we have the footloose dancer in the Fidora, over here we have the punk rocker with the fiddle, making angry gestures at the crowd... I'm all in favor of a little diversity, but after the points were made it when on.....for like twelve more minutes.

I liked it when they finally got to the white mountains part, with images of athletes projected onto them, but it was only a brief passing reference to the event, and then snowboarders\skiers hanging on wires went on for a little too long.
I can understand wanting to be swept away with the majesty of Canada, and of course being an American, how can I sit here and call the kettle black, but lord have mercy, I think the director missed the boat a little. Some of the singing acts were....badly off key, and the whole Titanic movie balad thing kept coming around, and the one element you thought would be there for sure in a Canadian event...Celine Dion....wasn't. What gives? When the Hallelujah song was going, I just changed channels, and actually started watching golf highlights.

I returned for the torch lighting, and watched Wayne Gretzky (the man) stand there for an eternity waiting for the ice pillars to get triggered. It just seemed like they were stalling for time from the word go.

Disclaimer: I would've been just as annoyed with an American ceremony that was badly directed, and broke down into a 3 hour self validating flag worship and democracy toting gala.

I'm not criticizing Canada, just the director of ceremonies ( he must be a dance choreographer)

I have to agree with WSM that the opening ceremonies did seem to drag. I didn't even recognize Bryan Adams. And where was Celine, maybe they are saving her for the closing ceremonies?

I was so proud of Lindsey. In my younger days I raced too and it requires a lot of dedication.
