A spectacular race by Big Brown, and I hope his problematic feet hold for the Preakness.



But oh, the gallant filly, Eight Bells! What a tragedy!

I'm reminded of the horrific end for Ruffian, whose champion's heart carried her through a ghastly injury to the same merciful decision for euthanization. So much ambition and weight supported by such fragile, graceful legs.

augh. No edit function. Eight Belles was the filly. She broke both front ankles, the last I heard.

My dad just told me about this--he said it was all over the news. Poor thing.

what ashame! the fact that there is no way to save a horse with horrible injuries is awful!I`m a horse owner ,and to think I might have to face this kind of decision any day is just to awful to contemplate.I hope someday that they can figure out a way to save horses like these.Any vets out there care to comment?a horselover,sbackowski
