And did your interest in those sports carry over into adulthood, either in terms of playing or being a spectator?

I played softball and was a cheerleader as a girl.

Not really interested in either of those sports now. Though I do enjoy watching major league baseball sometimes or going to a game.

How about you?

Played soccer, flag football and softball. Loved marbles tournaments. As I got older bought myself a enduro motorcycle. Did not race but I did like woods running. Liked playing other sports also but did not pursue them as intensely. I do like watching sports, football, bull riding, extreme sports occasionally. Now that its summer I'm busy lawn mower racing and weed wacking the grass thats growing faster than I can cut it due to all the rain.

I played soccer, field hockey and tennis....but I excelled at track and field, and gymnastics.

I was so good at gymnastics (the balance beam and floor excercises) that my coach sent me to a camp two summers in a row to train for the regionals. I came in at third place one year, but then lost interest in sports in 11th grade when I discovered boys (or should I say they finally discovered me?)

Ahhhh... you were a cheerleader, huh? The cheerleaders at my high school used to make fun of us female jocks all the time...most of us were late-late bloomers. It wasn't until 11th or 12th grade that the boys began to notice us!

Nice thread....gave me a good walk down memory lane..

In HS it was football, wrestling and track. I played Pop Warner football throughout Junior High School. This is a traveling little league football league with full pads and full contact. Track was always my forte of sorts in HS. I preferred the sprinting races over distance. My track coach in HS made me wrestle to keep in shape for track.

At the ripe age of 28 I only run now. I usually try to run 5 days a week and the distance varies based off of the weather and how I feel on that particular day. Gotta love Chi-town, last week we were at a heat index of 102, this week we are barely pushing 75.

I was a cheerleader when I was very young (early elementary school)--I did the cheers with the older girls and I was kind of like their little mascot. I'm really not sure how I ended up getting involved in that, I just remember doing it, and I never pursued it after that.

I played t-ball and softball when I was young. I actually continued to play that as an adult until I hurt my back and my doctor said, "You know, you aren't in your 20s anymore--you need a new sport." He's no fun! But he was right, and I eventually had to quit playing. So now I bowl.

I grew up in a country area, sports were all we had! Netball, softball, tennis, basketball, cricket, soccer, touch football, volleyball, hockey, water polo. When I grew older, I moved more into solo type sports ... fishing, canoeing, athletics - long distance running mostly. I still play most of these sports as recreation, but not regularly. I watch cricket, NRL and athletic events on telly, or actually there when I get a chance to go.

I played pretty much every sport as a kid, but I concentrated on football, baseball, and basketball. I missed those days playing hockey on the frozen ponds, wandering after wayward pucks on thin ice wondering if I was going to fall through.
