A trade was finalized sending Shaquille O'Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Most of the discussion surrounding this deal involves salary cap issues. Not many people are discussing how the talent shift helps or hurts either team.

Does anyone think that having Shaq now gives the Cavs what they need to get back to the NBA finals? How good will the Suns be without him?

Well, having a power center will definitely make a lot of room for LeBron. Teams will have a hard time defending against them effectively.

I haven't seen the details though ... not sure how it would impact Cleveland or Phoenix otherwise.

Hmm Shaq is a veteran now. He is not the same. Teams know this and that is why they keep trading him to other teams.

I dont think Shaq can provide the final piece to this team. We'll see.

I'm not really a fan of basketball. Really don't like it. That being said, I also thought LeBron was overhyped and am happy he did not get a championship yet because they would call him the messiah of basketball by now. Shaq on the other hand, I like him. Uber charisma and I find myself changing whatever basketball allegiances I have whenever he switches teams.

Shaq needs to check that monstrous ego at the door and accept whatever role the Cavs give him. This is LeBron's team, not a Shaq team. If Shaq can't get his ego under control, the team will be destroyed by internal forces.

Huge Cavs fan here, but I'm still not sure how this will impact the team. I think it has the potential to be a great move, but the fact is that the whole team needs to step up when they're needed. I guess time will tell.
