For those of you following the NFL off-season, it looks like Brett Favre may be preparing for another comeback. This time, the team is the Minnesota Vikings. Nothing is definite, but Favre had surgery on that shoulder that plagued him towards the end of last season (which I was grateful for, as a Dolphins fan )

Dan Marino was my favorite quarterback...when he retired, he stayed retired. Interestingly enough, the team that tried to lure him out of retirement was also the Minnestoa Vikings Had he tried to come back for a chance at a Super Bowl ring with another team I guess I would have rooted for him. But Favre I don't understand...he has a Super Bowl ring, almost every passing record known to man, and is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Why is he doing this? I think he's tarnishing his legacy somewhat.

I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts. Is he coming back? If so, will he be effective?

He has stayed a few years too long. He actually hurt Green Bay his last couple of years there. He had one good year numberswise but would have been better off on another team at that point. He was only making them mediocre.

This one is a no brainer. Minnesota may be slightly better with him but he cannot bring any team to a championship anymore. I don't remember who was quarterbacking for the Vikings at the end of last year but I don't think that it would be hard to do better than what they had.

I know that he has a large ego... but can it really be THAT big??

Favorite QB-Roger Staubach was the only QB I followed as a kid. Currently I love both Peyton Manning and Philip Rivers. But I don't follow them or any one particular QB.

Kurt Warner is accurate but is old. Drew Brees is supposed to have another great year, Last year I enjoyed watching Joe Flacco-Ravens. My teams QB is Eli Manning and while I like him as a person, I dislike him as a QB.

Honorable mention-Warren Moon was good. I loved the size and/or mobility of Dante Culpepper, Bryon Leftowich and McNabb [though I'm usually rooting against his team.] I like the Eagles but love the Giants. Gerrard is supposed to be good though I don't know much about him.

Btw I really got to like Marino when he was on the HBO? Sports show [forgot the name.] Him and Chris Carter [WR] made a great pair of announcers.

I agree with you and feel that Farve has tarnished his record. I'm going to go with he's going to attempt to play another season to:

1) increase his stats
2) get back at Green Bay
3) stay in the limelight one more year.

I don't think he will be a top quarterback based on his interceptions-TD ratio. His last five games he was 2-9 [2 TDs to 9 interceptions.] Of course his injury didn't help his accuracy.

Last season he faded & and I'm predicting the same. At best I'd say he's a back-up QB if he even plays.

He might never admit it publicly, but Brett is doing this to get back at Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy, the two people with the most power when it comes to personnel decisions. He felt betrayed and insulted by them and wants to do nothing more than get back at them.

Now I'm a Packers fan so I feel strongly about this. Brett was given plenty of time to come back after his first retirement. Our front office told Brett to take his time and they would still welcome him back, but Brett said no, I'm going to stay retired. So we told Aaron Rodgers he was our guy and we moved on. Then Brett decided he wanted back in, but our staff had no other option except for sticking with Aaron. They tried to get Brett to save face and stay retired, but he wanted to play so badly and was recruited by the Vikings. Of course the Pack wasn't going to let that happen and sent him to the Jets.

Brett played and didn't do so hot at the end from being injured, and re-retired to get free so he could have his options in case he wanted back in. And of course the one team that wanted him was the Vikes, since they don't have much at quarterback anyways. Hopefully this will end one way or the other, but make no mistake just why Brett is doing this. He's a legend still in Green Bay and always will be, but this will definitely tarnish him in many Cheeseheads' eyes, including mine.

Yep - to get back at Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy, and because of his gigantic ego.

Who's Brett Favre again? Isn't he that Cheesy Ego Head guy who has so many passing records? Do ya think he's looking to increase his interception record?

Brett wants to play so let the man play. Afterall, he's just being cheesy. Ya never know, give him enough time and he might try to be a moldy oldy.

I wonder how many #4 Judas shirts we'll see out there.

I'm a Packer fan and it just annoys me that Favre waffles so much he could start his own Waffle House franchise. I get that he loves the game and all, but enough is enough.

Seeing as he likes to play so much why can't he just call it quits and start his own football club? He could charge people money to play football with him. Then he gets to play football and make money at the same time. Then it actually gives the young guys a change to play football and become the next legend.

The time has come for Favre to gracefully bow out, and yet he can't bring himself to. Does anybody like a side of ego with their waffles?

Much as I liked Favre in the past, he is really becoming a joke today. IMO he will keep doing this "I'm retired////no wait I'm not" routine until teams stop giving him the time of day. I mean c'mon man, give it a rest!

Well, Brett's back, and we all knew it was coming. He spends his summers training near his home with a local high school football squad. There's a rumor going around that he retires this way so he doesn't have to put in the summer practices and spring training with the NFL boys. But honestly, it doesn't seem like he knows what to do with himself outside of football. It's been a long time, and it's all he knows. But people were talking that since all the local boys look up to him, he could have a great future in motivational speaking.
