I'm an equestrian from way back. Unfortunately life got in the way and now I'm back in it at the grand old age of 57. Is it weekend trail riding or once a month stepping up into the saddle? Oh, heck no! I'm riding dressage again.

I started riding dressage in my early twenties, but like I said, life got in the way. Now at the age of 57 my ambitions are somewhat more modest, but that being said, I refuse to be known as an Intro Level Queen.

I don't ride a cold-blood. My schoolmaster, Roland, is a branded Holsteiner gelding. He's 16 hands 2 inches and 1200 lbs. He's been passed around to women in the Intro Queen club, but they weren't ready to ride this kind of horse. It required them to move beyond their comfort zone and be willing to risk it all. He is however, the most honest and classically trained horse I've had the honor to sit on. The only horse that came close was my instructor's mare. In the year and a half I've owned him my riding has improved by quantum leaps.

I'll probably never ride a Grand Prix test, but if I can reach Third Level I'll consider it a job well done. Dressage is a sport that few people ever really master. I don't think I'll ever touch the bottom of Roland's abilities, but I'll happily devote myself to the rest of his lifetime and what he has to teach me.

That being said, I'm an equestrian, a rider and a dedicated student. Are there any other riders/equestrians in EHarmony. I'd love to hear from you. Oh, I'd also love to visit Iceland and take an Icelandic horse trekking tour over the countryside. I think I'm a Viking at heart.

Wassail!

It's been over 20 years since I've ridden horses, but it was a very vivid experience. I attended a summer camp where I was assigned to groom and learn to ride a horse. I don't remember what type of horse I had but it was English, so I had to wear the uncomfortable saddle and funny-looking hat. Then, during the equestrian show, I fell off my horse while trying to get it to trot. I still took third place, lol.

You sound almost regretful that you're riding horses again. Why is that?
