I have two:

-in 5th grade I knocked in the game-winning RBI in my softball team's tri-state championship game, got my name in the paper

-the second one was not MY moment, but I was there when the US won the women's soccer championship (and Brandi Chastaine made headlines around the world for ripping off her shirt in her moment of triumph).

What are yours? It's braggin' time!

I wasn't a direct participant, but I was broadcasting a game. Our college had a huge rivalry with another college and we have an annual football game that's a huge deal. My school was mediocre this year while the other needed a win to get into the playoffs.

The game started with a couple of 3-and-out possessions. After a punt, my college started on its own three yard line. The team put together a 12-play 97-yard drive that set the tempo for the game. After that drive, my school went on to dominate the other team on its home field. The atmosphere was electric and during the drive, you could sense something special was happening.

not a huge moment in my opinion, but when i was 13, my freshman team of bowlers won the state championship. i actually don't remember much from it because i was too young. i was just having fun bowling every week.

more recently though, i was deployed to Cuba and was on a soccer team. if you can imagine one of those cars that has duct tape and 2 different color doors, that was our soccer team. and while we were randomly put on the team we were not the worst-pretty freakin good actually. of the 3 or 4 games i played before leaving, i dont remember us losing. our toughest game to that point was against a bunch of Jamaicans. we had a lot of opportunities to score, but couldnt capitalize. i think we were down to 2 minutes and they scored for the lead. i walked by one of the refs and he just said "hey, you guys had your chances." before the final whistle blew, we managed to tie it (possibly win?)-we reacted like we were champions. not for gloating purposes mind you, but because that game was insane. all things considered, we should have been wrecked by them, and i dont think our number of goals (either team) exceeded 3.

...yes, i love soccer, but its insanely boring to watch.

played some ultimate frisbee with my brother and his friends (about 8 of us). and they saw a 17 yr old hold his own against people 13 yrs my senior.

Which story? I got a few. Let's see, by fourth grade, I had become slightly overweight. I had always been an active kid and athletic. One game I couldn't even catch a football. But I changed and by fifth grade, I wasagain, winning first place in athleticevents. Alsomy dad had us lift weights for a year when I was in 7 grade.

In 8th grade, our last football game, we won 14-7. I caught two interceptions and got both touchdowns. Compared to my fourth grade embarrassment, Iwasproud but humble.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My biggest playwas when I was about16 or 17. One side of town was playing the other side oftown. There were women on thesideline and both sideshad a Varisity star Ringer. This washuge and it was NorthVs. the South part of town.

Wehadusually been victorious while playing other parts of the town. I was playing Cornerback and Wide Receiver. My training was from High School. I was one of the fastest kids (my brother had blazing speed andwas alleged to havetheskill to goto the Olympics. But he didn't play football much & wasn't there.)Anyhoo wewere dazed, we can'ttackle their Ringer. He was too fast & elusive. He was a speedy wide receiver who sometimes played halfback. He kept ripping one for 20 + 30 yards at a clip.

Losing21-7 we couldn't believe it. We feltconfused and dejected. Our game plan fell apart, our magic was gone and even ourteamStarsquestioned themselves. Eventually the other side had the ball with their backs upagainst their endzone. I snucked up to the line...and got a Quarterbacksack! TheQuarterbackwas really tall, I leaptedfor hisneck and clotheslined him to the ground.

Saftey! The guyreturned the favor by jabbinghiselbow into my windpipe aswe bothwent down. While laying in the dirt, I smiled. Two guys helped me up. They had to kick the ball to us. Wewent on tocrush them 35-21 by haf-time (they never scored again.) After that we ranaway with the game 70-?

Several times I was the first tackleragainst their other star halfback; this guy was a bull-one of the largest and strongest on thefield. He was more like a DefensiveEnd than a halfback. I'd hang on andbe dragged a few yards untilother guysfrom myteam gang tackled him. That was it for the rest of the game. I never got into the open much during offense (I was well covered.)Defense wins championships.

I've got tennis stories, running story, a great wrestling story, backpacking, etc.

Final soccer game of my final season in league play (age limit, 14) ...

I was a fullback (defense) ... I scored 3 goals, two on shots from the opposite end of the field and the third in a shoot-out.

Unfortunately, I was the only member from my team to score in the shoot-out ...
