Okay....Mikey got caught with a bong this week. What do you think?

Should he lose his Olympic medals?

Why would he lose his medals? He obviously didn't have it in his system when he won the events. A young guy made a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. If he doesn't learn from it, then he should get the consequences.

He is already suffering consequences -- and will hopefully learn from them. Honestly, it's hard for me to get too worked up about this one (maybe a factor of having come of ageduringthe 70s...lol).

I don't think it's going to bother him. Public opinion is about 98% don't care and will forgive. It's not about the medals, but about the franchising and advertising business. Unless he blows it all though, he should already have plenty to live on for the rest of his life.

But odds are he will blow what he has now anyways.

I suppose he will lose some potential business, but I it's just possible this could inprove his advertising clout among certain age groups.

No, actually. In his case I should think the gateway drugs were steroids and money.

Nothing facilitates a drug habit like money.

Sports today is all about drugging up and getting away with it. He may have qualified as clean, but i really can't imagine that he didn't use them on his way up, nor can i imagine that he doesn't have contacts with or the ready ability to contact the most advanced techncians in getting doped atheletes through the drug screening.

To say that he just went out and creamed all the other dopers in the sports business by being completely clean is totally naive.

Totally.

The only thing that really bothers me about it is that he marketed himself as a children's role model.

I just think that ifhe wants to be a party boy, then he shouldmarket himselfa party boy, like Bode Miller. And, he should also remember that he really can't trust anyone, because whoever took that picture and released it just cashed in.

he may have been dirty.. we may never know for sure. if he found a way to beat the system, then there are others that figured this out as well... it's all speculation until he comes up dirty in a screen.

still though - to say that he creamed all the other dopers is a stretch IMHO. 3 of his golds came in relays... he had one gold that he BARELY won, and another that was pretty darn close.
