How do you go about rediscovering your faith when you feel almost abandoned by God?

How do you find your faith again, and hold onto it even when you can't understand what God's plans could be and they seem so far removed from what you wanted out of life?
Sometimes "losing your faith" means finding a different path in life.

You may not need or want to go back to your faith, but redefine what it is you have faith in. Many people have faith, without having a religion. Some people even have faith without believing in god (faith in the goodness of humans, faith in the wonders of nature, etc.) Perhaps that is the road you are heading toward.

Interesting phrasing, however, faith is defined by believing in something without any verifiable data, I would submit that I have a belief in the "goodness of humans" because I have seen many instances to back it up.

There are many definititions of the word "faith." It can also mean confidence, trust, or simply belief. The belief does not have to be something that cannot be verified.

I must disagree. Belief is to accept something as true. Faith is defined as accepting something to be true which one cannot prove.

No, there are many definitions of the word "faith." Here are some:

World English Dictionary
faith (feɪθ) n 1. strong or unshakeable belief in something, esp without proof or evidence 2. a specific system of religious beliefs: the Jewish faith 3. Christianity trust in God and in his actions and promises 4. a conviction of the truth of certain doctrines of religion, esp when this is not based on reason 5. complete confidence or trust in a person, remedy, etc 6. any set of firmly held principles or beliefs 7. allegiance or loyalty, as to a person or cause (esp in the phrases keep faith , break faith ) 8. bad faith insincerity or dishonesty 9. good faith honesty or sincerity, as of intention in business (esp in the phrase in good faith )

You can use definition #1, and that is fine. But note that is says "especially" without proof or evidence, but not requiring that as part of the definition. Definition #6 does not require that the belief be without proof.

Very true. But I would regard any 'firmly held set of beliefs or principles' as contrary to sound thinking. The root of wisdom lies in doubt.

And, yes, I doubt that belief as well. =]
