so what exactly makes satan "evil"? does rebelling against God automatically makes one evil?

i've read a significant portion of the bible throughout my life but not really studied it, so i can't think of anything off the top of my head which answers this. maybe the scholars of the forum can provide examples of the atrocities at the hands of satan which justify the label of "evil".

well, that's the dude who likes keeping people's souls burning in hell, and then, to top it off... he has that pitchfork thingy that he stabs you with...for eternity.

I would say that puts him right at the top of the list for "not very nice".

God is good. Evil is the absence of good (Athanasius addressed this). That which disobeys God is evil. Satan is evil for disobeying God.

Yes. Hell is the place of God's judgment. Satan is condemned there just like every man (general human sense). The only difference is that man is given a way out through Christ Jesus.

Satan is NOT evil.......or the cause of evil.

Satan/Devil is that aspect of life that divides us from one another and from 'GOD'

Satan is essential.....Without Satan the universe would be imperfect.

From Satan comes ....'GOOD'..............(eventually)

There has to be division so we may understand UNITY

There are a couple of critical errors here:

To start, unity is not dependent upon division. The former does not need the latter to exist. In like fashion, good does not require evil. Evil exists as a separation from good and good is an "all or none" quality. Even in the first act of straying from what is good is evil in itself; this makes Satan evil as much as it certainly makes mankind evil, for "there is no one who does good, not even one" (Rm 3:12) and, again, "No one is good—except God alone"(Mk 10:18).

I only address these two points because the rest was worked out from the point that evil and division are required for good and unity to exist.

how did you come to the conclusion that is it God's will that hell exist ? please explain.

by definition, God is supposed to be all powerful, all knowing, omnipotent, omnipresent and any other "omni" word you can think of. for this to be true, nothing can happen that is not his will.

how can you tell what good is without evil?
