Great question!

I think we believe because we have faith. We want there to be a God and a Heaven. We are hoping that there is more to us than just flesh and blood.

Which is more important what we know or what we don’t know?

I am hard pressed to answer this question myself because our lives are defined by our understanding and not necessarily what we know or don’t know. Facts can lead us to incorrect conclusions. Having an incomplete or incorrect understanding can be more detrimental than not knowing anything at all.

What we “think” we know defines our world. People ask me, Diana why are you always trying to take things apart and figure stuff out? Why can’t you just accept that some things merely are what they are? Well, everything is what it is, but our understanding of something or lack thereof can profoundly change how we see and interact with it. For example, the earth has never been flat. Just because something is a certain way it doesn’t mean that is how it should be. In fact, that is what is called a “naturalistic fallacy.” Our human history is full of them.

Our thoughts and beliefs can become our prisons if we allow them to. It is an even greater crime when our thoughts create prisons or chains for someone else. I don’t like being chained to any idea and I hope that I never allow someone else to lock my mind in a box. I have never believed that there are stupid people or small minds. I do believe that there are small thoughts and small (selfish) ideas. There are real answers for every so called mystery or puzzle that mankind faces. Unlocking the doors requires having the imagination to ask the right questions. It requires being able to think beyond two dimensions and see further than just today.
