Also, my knowledge of scripture is very limited. Is there anything in the Bible for or against reincarnation? I know Christ came back from the dead but I mean just regular people? Yea? Nay?
Christians completely reject a notion of reincarnation. We are "reborn" by water and spirit (baptism - where we die [drown like in the deluge] in Christ so we can be resurrected in Christ). But this is not a new soul or body. To man is appointed one life.
Hebrews:27-28 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Apostolic Christians (Catholics & Orthodox) have always taught a sanctification process called "theosis" - were God's grace progressively advances the soul in the here-and-now toward perfection so that the soul may at the time is separates from the body (physical death) if found worthy may enter heaven and receive its crown. Again though, this is NOT reincarnation but rather a kind of metamorphosis the soul undergoes after it has been consecrated to God by baptism and the Holy Spirit does its work. In the original apostolic theology its a cooperative life long process of "sanctification" and preparation where the penalty of sin teaches man his weakness and he repents and overcomes and advances over one's whole life. After the 2nd judgement (we each have a personal judgement at death and all of humanity gets a 2nd judgement when the extent of all good and evil deeds runs its course) God reunites the soul with a perfected and glorified body (those already judged worthy of heaven). Those who failed to elect to love God and abandon His call to eternal glory are given to hell in both body and soul.
