If you could choose one prayer that God would guarantee to answer what would it be?

Can you imagine hearing all the thoughts and prayers from every creature in existence all at once? This is quite a task so God created special Angels to help.

Recently, concerned with all the despair contained in the prayers from mankind, an Angel named Jonathan approached God and said, “God, the Earth seems to be filled with so many unhappy people that everyone is losing faith. I just heard a little girl say in her prayer that she is wasting her time praying because you, God, don’t exist and if you do you must not be listening. This is really bothering me. Does it not bother you as well, God?” Jonathan asks.

“If I promised to focus all my attention on one prayer and guarantee that I will answer it, would your worry be appeased my faithful servant?” God asked.

“Yes, God, it would. What a great testament to your infinite wisdom, kindness, and mercy!” Jonathan said. “Thank you so much!”

“Then it is done, but I must add one condition,” God said.

“Anything, All Powerful One, please just ask!” Jonathan said.

“The prayer cannot in anyway interfere with free will. Other than that, it can be anything any one human desires,” God said.

“You are truly amazing, God, but there are so many prayers from so many deserving people; how do I know which human is most worthy?” Jonathan asks.

“Fair enough my servant. You may find three humans whom you believe to have the most pain and longing in their hearts. Of the three I will choose one and answer his prayer.” God said.

As a relatively new Angel, Jonathan didn’t want to disappoint God so he set out to find three of the most deserving humans on the planet and brought them before God in a shared dream.

“You three, according to my faithful servant, are the most deserving humans on the Earth. Please speak to me the single wish above all others dwelling deeply within every crevasse of your heart,” God said.

A Godly young man named Markus battling the pain of loneliness steps forward and says to God, “I am a good man and the single wish in my heart is to have a beautiful and loving wife. Please make her faithful so that she will love and cherish only me forever.”

“This is an honorable request, but it is also a selfish one. Granting the wish in the manner you stated would impose upon the free will of your beloved to change her mind,” God said. “I am so sorry but I can not answer your prayer.”

Next a very intelligent man named Charles comes forward and with anger in his voice says, “I am a smart man and I knew you wouldn’t grant Markus’ wish because it was so selfish. I was going to request that you give everyone happiness then I realized that would interfere with the free will of those who like imposing misery on others. You deliberately put that free will condition in there because you figured it would get you out of having to help us, but there is something I can ask that you can’t wiggle or snake your way out of which won’t interfere with anyone’s free will.”

“What is that?” God asks patiently.

“Can we go back in time to when only Adam and Eve were on the Earth and remove all temptation, forever?” Charles asks. “That would permanently get rid of all the pain, suffering, war, famine, and disease the world has endured because there would be no sin, right? You see, God, the problem is not that WE screwed things up; the problem is that Adam and Eve screwed things up and the rest of us have been paying for their stupidity ever since! How is that fair? You didn’t think we were smart enough to figure out your little puzzle did you? Answer my prayer and when I wake from this dream and return to my life on Earth it will be paradise again and I will be celebrated as a hero!”

“You are indeed very clever, Charles, but have you really thought this through? Undoing everything just so Adam and Eve never sin means you and everyone you loved would not exist. I would not be interfering with the free will of Adam and Eve, but going back in time would eliminate your existence and that would dispose of your free will. I am sorry, but your prayer does not meet my condition and therefore I can not answer it.

With the immense failure of Jonathan’s most promising prospects all of the other Angels began to wonder if there was any hope for mankind getting just ONE worthy prayer answered by God. Jonathan, however, wasn’t worried because he saved his best hope for last.

Samantha, the final candidate steps forward. Samantha was six years old and the only prayer screamed by her little heart every night was for her mother who was dying of cancer. After Jonathan’s first two blunders all the Angels gasped for breath in total shock. Why was he setting up this innocent child up for the greatest disappointment of her life?

A tiny voice whispers up to God’s ear, “Hello, God, my name is Samantha.”

“Hello Samantha,” God smiles and his heart is warmed by her bravery and innocence. “You are the little girl who said in her prayers that I must not exist.”

“Yes, God, I said that and I am very sorry, but my mommy is sick and I’ve been praying and praying and it seemed like you weren’t listening.” Samantha says.

“That is okay, Samantha, many people feel that way sometimes,” God says. “So what is your wish; are you going to ask me to make your mommy well?”

“No, God. I love my mommy very much and I don’t want her to die, but now I understand why I can’t wish for you to heal her. Sometimes my mommy says I’m bad so I know I’m not a good person like the first man you talked to. Sometimes my daddy says I’m silly so I’m not a smart person like the second man you talked to. I’m not really sure why I’m here at all, but since I get one wish I wish for no one to have to go to the bad place where people burn forever.”

God smiled and said, “Done! No one ever has to go to the bad place if they accept the gift of salvation.”

Heaven exploded with rejoice and all the Angels started singing and praising God except for Jonathan.

“What is wrong my faithful servant; are you not pleased with the prayer I answered?” God asked.

“I am very please oh Exalted One, I’m just surprised I didn’t realize that humans already had the one gift and the only gift they will ever need,” Jonathan said. “Surely it was no coincidence that I heard the prayer from Samantha that night so that you could remind me of this?”

“Surely it was not,” God said.

OP, look at your story...God's answer to Samantha was..."Done! No one ever has to go to the bad place if they accept the gift of salvation"
