yes I have been there, and the condation you described is probaly reality for most people. How ever I would say it happens when you relize that you cant get to heaven by your self and that you see your sin as God sees it and you see your self as God sees you. Jesus used that turm to a rich religous man who came to him sencerilly seeking. he dewelt with others defferently acording to there needs. The new bearth hapens when you give your life to Jesus and the spirot of God makes you a new person. Hay man If you are in Christ you can quit tumbling and put down roots in good ground.

Dear TumbleWeed,

Welcome to these eHarmony Advice boards and thanks for posting. Salvation, i. e., being born again, is something that people often wonder about but usually choose to reject.

And you're right, it's often when a person is at their very lowest in life that they realize their need of our Savior - the Lord Jesus Christ.

I was saved when I was very young (a preschooler) so didn't have the dramatic conversion like some that have been involved in desires of the flesh, though I do know some who had fallen into the depths of despair before realizing their need for salvation. It's sad that some choose to go through so much before coming to the Lord to save them from their sins.

What's important is that one does decide to make the choice to be saved before it's too late. We can only make the choice during this brief time we're on earth and after that it's too late. None of us know when we will die and so it's best not to wait and run the risk of spending eternity separated from God and away from Heaven.

There is nothing a person can do in and of him or herself that would ever merit salvation. Salvation is God's free gift to us through His son, Jesus', redemptive work on the Cross for YOU and for me. In God's grace, He made a way for us, whereby through faith, we can accept His precious gift.

More specifically, one can only be saved through confessing he or she is a sinner, believing that God made provision for their sin through Jesus' dying on the Cross just for him or her sins, and rising again thereby overcoming sin, and accepting Jesus as their Savior.

It's very simple and very easy. There's nothing at all hard about it. One comes in simple, child-like faith. It's as effortless as praying a prayer like this:

"O Father, forgive me my sins. I am a sinner in need of salvation and I believe Jesus died on the cross and rose again so that my sins would be forgiven and is now seated at the right-hand of God. I repent of my sins and accept Jesus into my heart as my Savior. Thank you for your free gift of eternal life in Heaven. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Why does a person need to be saved? Because our God is a holy and righteous God who cannot tolerate sin. Sin entered the world through Adam and Eve and that's why we all have a sin nature. God made a provision for our sin through His perfect Son, Jesus, both fully God and fully Man, to be our propitiation i.e., sin sacrifice, who came to this earth as an infant, who died on the Cross for our sins, who rose again, and who is now in Heaven.

All we have to do is accept, through faith, God's free gift to us.

Now, we know from the Bible that once a person is indeed saved, he or she does not lose their salvation. For those who do not know what being saved means, please be advised that a person is NOT saved:

1. By being a good person - you can be the very best person in the world and still not be saved. Salvation is not based on being a good person!

2. Through any good work or anything you can do in and / or of yourself,

3. By going to church,

4. By giving money,

5. By anyone you know, even if it's the President of the United States,

6. By being baptized, or any such thing.

I grieve by what you wrote. You are mocking the Gospel, Christianity and Jesus Christ. What can Buddha do for you? Nothing! But Jesus died for YOU and shed His Blood for You. What is real is He is ALIVE and desires a personal relationship with you. But if you reject Him, He will let you, because He has given us a free will. So you will have to choose-- face Him as Saviour or Judge. I hope you will carefully think things through and Read the Gospel (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). Ask Him if what people have said about Him is true or not. Ask Him if He is Real. Ask Him questions. He desires honest seekers. BUT ASK with a HUMBLE HEART. With a grieving heart for you,PUG

Dear TumbleWeed,

You may be interested in reading a very thin book by C. S. Lewis called, Mere Christianity. One way to get it is through you library on interlibrary loan.

After a person is saved, he or she needs to find a good, Bible teaching church. Find one where you fit in and that is not legalistic but does teach the Bible. As odd as it may sound, not all do.

Additionally, it's important to establish the daily habits of prayer and reading the Bible. Prayer is when you talk to God and through the Bible is how God talks to you.

Furthermore, it's important to fellowship with other Christians and attend a Bible study.

There's a website that will help you in your Christian walk and in growing: www.family.org.

Additionally, if you're dealing with certain issues, there's another very helpful Christian website: www.troubledwith.com that is quite helpful.

You seem to be saved but don't mention if you are for sure? Please let us know if you are so we can celebrate with you!
