That's and!

You've read Wayward Puritans then, I'm sure. The origins of Jerry Springerism.

If you like sociology then most of what I am saying should make sense. One of my daughters majors and her main one is sociology. Aside from a few of my beliefs they all hold true with her studies. One thing that may be different between you and her is she works here too, in collections. She also understands, what most don't, what goes on behind the scenes in health care.

So, taxing small business. Small businesses tend to be SubS, LLC, LLPs and all the other limited liability flow through entities. When the Bush tax cuts revert next year they will be taxed at a rate of 39.6% higher than the 35% paid by Goldman Sachs. This is what I meant when I said I don't know if they are doing this on purpose or just don't understand the laws they are creating.

When a higher tax rates are foist on small business and lower rates remain for big business it gives the appearance that the administration doesn't care about small business.

My major was Sociology as well.

I do understand that their is an inclination for a percentage of individuals to act a certain way when the population becomes large.

That is not to say that we should not strive for systematic changes that give more power to individuals.

Technology continues to give individuals the easy route to sell themselves & their services. We should adjust policy to fully take advantage of the possibility of a better system that does offer more fairness & less exploitation.

Yes, it is entirely visible that the private sector WILL exploit whenever possible.

That can be seen in the fact that when American workers cannot be exploited enough the private sector seeks out individuals in which they can exploit.

Can you imagine if the minimum wage was lower in this country? The exploitation of our workers would be even greater than it already is.

I also believe that the tax policy that the administration verbalizes is sound in its benefit to every individual. Unfortunately the policy that they verbalize is one that is being met with enough resistance to encourage the compromise that we are seeing on those.

I am OK with the compromise but do expect continued work to encourage individuals to have more power & control over their everyday lives.

I am also not willing to let the private sector off the hook for abuses. No, I don't believe that the problems with health insurance are due to government involvement.

I have no problem with the fact that I pay 3K or 4K per year for care. I am pretty healthy & don't use insurance as frequently as most.

I do have a problem with a rise in rates accompanied by a REDUCTION in service along with large increases in profit industry-wide.

If all 3 of those things did not fly out of control over the last 10 years then the problem would be much smaller.

The industry does a very poor job at controlling costs. Profit is often more of a factor than healthcare as well.

If you do think that mandates are a problem then which procedures & treatments would you NOT cover & why?

I do realize, Jo, that you are in the tax industry now. For some reason I thought that you were speaking of a health insurance collection angle.

I am seriously liking the fact that the administration is much more clearly verbalizing the rationale behind their tax plan.

Tim Geithner did a good job today on "This Week" stating how that plan will incentivise both hiring & internal investment for small business. It makes sense & is a good plan to strengthen the middle class.

I am curious ... How has this administration helped small business? Interest rates may be low, but as a result requirements for loans have sky-rocketed ... Net result being that even if you could afford a higher rate, you still may not qualify for the loan ...
Lowered interest rates are primarily a result of the Fed endlessly tinkering with interest rates in general and can't really be pinned on the fiscal policy of any given administration. The increased rules and/or requirements for lending were significantly influenced by the recent finanacial meltdown and the unrestrained, unethical lending practices of a fair chunk of the financial industry. Basically, they brought it on themselves and everyone else.

So until it is deleted here is an example of the dogmatic left. http://advice.eharmony.com/boards/da...-me-me-me.html (about me me me!)

That is the problem with identifying yourself with either side, both are inflexible. I am a rightward leaning moderate. From what I have been told, hated by both sides because we cannot choose. Sorry but we choose just fine, we just prefer to think before we vote. Instead of just running down the party line we consider what each person will do in light of what we believe.

How, or better, why would anyone want to identify themselves by a party? There is no way either could represent a personal view. Look at either side they have good ides and bad ones. They have good ideas and bad ways to go about implementing them.

Anyway I need to get to work. Hope this answered your question better.

Oh I wanted to explain that I pointed out the dogmatic left because there are so few clear examples of it. I think there are plenty of examples around of the dogmatic right. Then again if you need a link to one it should only take a second to find one.
