I can't do links, but go to www.insurance fraud.org, Reuters AlertNet - Homepage, Texas Health Insurance, Health Insurance Quotes in Texas, Insurance Plans and that should answer any questions you have. The waste is disgusting.

Just one example...From 2000-2007 Medicare paid out 478,500 claims to dead physicians totaling 92 million dollars.

And the 65 billion for Afghanistan was quoted in this week's Newsweek in an article on VP Biden.
Well heck, if it's that easy sign me up! How do I file one of these fraudulent claims? If my tax money is going to frauds, I might as well get some of it back.....plus a couple extra million.

But I was hoping more for a link that gave hard numbers, not estimates.

The thieving is so widespread and creative that hard numbers on every category might be tough to track down.

News is news and facts are facts. I hope you're not claiming the CNN lineup is any different except in the way they tilt. Most of the personalities on each of these stations spew from the far left or right, helping nothing.

I copied the article for the facts and that's it.
Did you hear? The Obama administration has decide to commit 40,000 new troops. The problem is - it is in the war against Fox News. Funny, how the administration can't take criticism, and Fox is the only one sounding the alarm (and true, there are the overhyped talking head windbag personalities). And true, I was also frustrated with Fox News, when they failed to call the Bush Administration on certain issues. However, now, they are the only ones calling the Obama Administration to task, and they can't stand the criticism.

Yes, as a concerned citizen I encourage everyone to keep their eyes on both health care and the "green agenda," and stay informed. Since, they are both areas that enable an increasingly centralized government to gain greater control over our lives, and incrementally lose our freedoms.

On a lighter note; did you know that you are about as likely to hear a joke about the Obama Administration on the David Letterman show, as you are to hear a joke about Muhammed in a mosque. And, that's no joke!

To be facts they have to be true, that does not mean that every thing that is represented as a fact is in deed so. the fact is that that is my opinion. figure that out when you have the time.

FACT: Something that actually exists, reality, truth.

Something known to exist or to have happened.

A truth known by actual experience or observation, something known to be true.

I didn't need much time... Have a nice day.

Negative.

"Tom Hanks is a the best actor." - this is an opinion, it is neither true nor false.

"Tom Hanks was born in California." - this is a fact. it is either true or false. It is an erroneous interpretation to define "facts" as necessitating truth, regardless of popular misconception.

As a general rule of thumb ... A fact from MSNBC/CNN is true until proven otherwise ... A fact from Fox is false until proven otherwise by MSNBC/CNN ...

Truth ... Health insurance industry makes out like bandits ... WellPoint, one of the more profitable and financially sound health insurance companies, raked in a a whooping 3 cents on the dollar profit ... 6 cents to admin and government compliance, 4 cents to marketing and 87 cents went to medical care ...

According to AHIP (definitely a biased entity) health insurers brought in around 6.7 billion in profits last year ... The tax the government is proposing to levy on them will be about 8.3 billion ...

Sure looks like the government option will be on a level playing field .. Just tax the heck out the health insurance companies, thereby forcing them to raise their rates to stay in business, then use theose funds to subsidize the government option, thereby dropping the premium on it.

According to Webster

Main Entry: fact
Pronunciation: \ˈfakt\
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin factum, from neuter of factus, past participle of facere
Date: 15th century
1 : a thing done: as a obsolete : feat b : crime c archaic : action
2 archaic : performance, doing
3 : the quality of being actual : actuality
4 a : something that has actual existence b : an actual occurrence
5 : a piece of information presented as having objective reality

TP: Your definition of fact looks a lot like the definition for a 'statement' ... A statement is either true, false, or has a null truth value.

This is due to the relationship between these terms, a "fact" is indeed a "statement", however it holds the extended distinction of being verifiable or observable. While facts are often proported or represented as being truthful this is not equivalent to truth.

Here's an example site I found for you if you wish to learn more:

Going by the definition ... Statements are often proported or represented as being facts, but that doesn't mean statements are facts.

The website contradicts the definition of Fact, per the dictionary ... One might argue that it fits #5, but then is discounted by 3 and 4 ... Thus being invalid ...
