I'm curious.....independent of their political party, how's your level of faith in politicians lately, overall?

Mixed. I don't like the general rudeness displayed toward other politicians in the media ... though that may be just me as I tend to focus on the scathing tone of voice rather than the message the politician wishes to deliver.

I like our State Premier - he is not in the political party I support - but he does get stuff done. He also is not rude toward others in the media that I have noticed.

most dont ever go outside of the parameters that would be considered an extreme left or right and those that do will never get elected. they are mostly if not entirely driven by public opinion poll so my faith or lack of in politicians rarely changes. overall its as low as it usually is, okay maybe its significantly lower lol

Hasn't changed.

Seems like as much as the world has changed, they don't.
They'll still try and tell you what they think you want to hear, which is my biggest criticism.
Whichever way the wind blows, that's the way they go.

What this world needs are less weathervanes....and more lighthouses.
People that are built on a rock.

We need less characters...and we need more people with character.

I also like it when we actually get things done.

So latelyI am liking politicians. I hope that momentum keeps building so that we can continue to get things done & solve problems.

It is bothersome to me when the process gets blocked at every turn. It leaves things stagnant.

I rate politicians generally quite high for ideological adherence (doing what they claim to believe.) Unfortunately, this too often is stubbornness and dogmatism in the face of complex, evolving facts.

i would not care if they mostly just stayed home and did nothing because they invariably muck up the works.

I must admit, I was left speechless by our local Mayor this month. Who asked if we sold mobile phones.

Wow - talk about not knowing the businesses of your Municipality! We're only the second largest Telco consumer brand globally ... complete with product being sold in specialist stores, as well as supermarkets. 'Do you sell phones?' I mean really. I'm still incredulous ...

I think it would really surprise most people if they knew how much of the government decisions and such are made by people who were not elected. Most of the bills are not even written by our elected officials much less even read by them before they vote on them. Those that work for them do most of the work.
Where I live we recently the mayor of a city I live near received a beat down for trying to help someone who was calling for help. I was extremely pleased to see that he did not try to use it for political reasons, though he is now floating his name for govenor.
The more I have learned about what really goes on and what the politicians are like when not on camera has really caused me to lose faith in my elected officials - much like it was when I got elected to the board at my church. Sometimes knowledge is not a good thing.
