Freed journalist: 'We are so happy to be home' - CNN.com

What do you think of this? What do you feel motivated North Korean leaders to pardon these journalists?

If I told you what I really thought you would probably ban me. Read my sugar coated response in the 'Did anybody watch this' thread.

Clinton promised them something that he couldn't deliver or he cashed in on an old favor.

They don't call him "slick willy" for nothing.

Hey....it worked! A lot of prayers were answered today.
And yes, I'm sure NK will try to make something of it....they'll have lovely pictures of how the very powerful former President came and humbly sought the benevolence of their dear leader, yadda, yadda, yadda......but who cares? No one else in the world believes them. Anyway, we are a great enough country to care more about these two women than to worry about what a two-bit megalomaniac and his poor starving syncophants are saying.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a two-bit megalomaniac with nuclear weapons when that's the only thing he's got to sell. Others have been dismissed just as easily in the past and gone on to do great harm!

I am glad the ladies are free. It will be interesting to see if they really were across the border or if they were kidnapped. I'm wondering the same about the three in Iran.

That's a fair point; I know that some in both this administration and the last have worried about NK selling nukes to terrorists, which would be horrible indeed.

I was referring more to the "spin" the events will get in North Korea's own media.

Yes, it will be interesting to see where they actually were. There are claims that soldiers have gone after people some distance from the border.

These deals always include something for the country ($, weapons, etc) releasing prisoners that Americans aren't aware of till many years later.

However contrary to what many of my guys feel, I think it's great Clinton did that.
