Found an app for my CrackBerry (don't know if they have it for the iPhone) called "Visible Vote". You can view all the legislation currently in Congress and you can see how your Representative votes on each proposed bill. You can vote on your stance on the issue and the "supposedly" it is sent to your rep. It will also compair your vote to how your reps vote to see where your guy stands compaired to where you are. There is also an option to "write your representative". And of course this is a free service or it would not exist on my phone lol.

Now I can't say if it actually makes it to your reps office/eyes but it is a cool concept and a good way to figure out what type of carp is being sent through our government....lol.

Oh and I posted this mainly for Dito. I know he is always posting some crazy legislature that no one knows about. I expect a 1000 percent increase in threads posted from Dito if this app is downloaded on his phone. lol

It's a glow-in-the-dark compass ring, so you don't get lost.

Or you could read the Congressional Report ... it's a "concise" daily compilation.

I think the best you can hope for is that they (or an aid) COULD check, if they were curious.

That is pretty cool. I do have a bb. I don't know if I could handle seeing what he voted on every day.

Unfortunately the internet is not all that fast here. The internet on my phone is a lot faster and convenient than going to a wireless hot spot and lugging my laptop around. Not to mention the government sites aren't all that "bandwidth friendly". The app gives a good overview of the bills and of course I don't have the time, or desire, to read thousands of pages of legislature a day.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I am only at a 47% agreement with Sen Evan Bayh - 42% with Sen Richard(?) Lugar - 50% with Rep Baron Hill. Party affiliation doesn't really change those numbers either. I vote half liberal half conservative. Don't mess with my g u n s, tobacco/alcohol, or taxes. Ridiculous spending/bailouts and giving money/technology to foriegn countries don't go over well either.

Not to mention they vote on most of the stuff without reading it.

Have to say I was a little guilty of that as well. LoL

If they would just cut all the bull out of the bills it would be a lot easier. There is no need for 1 billion in roadway construction for Indiana in a bill that is for the approval of giving India some of our nuclear technology. (That's just an example, I have no idea what was actually in that bill.)

I understand that there is a backlog on the process for putting bills on the floor but there has to be a better solution than adding unrelated carp in the bills presented.

That's not really why it's done... They'll attach unrelated stuff to another bill so it will sail through along with it. The primary piece of legislation may be something uncontroversial that everyone wants to vote for, or it could be controversial and those little additions are the price that is paid to bring in more votes. People will want to pass the primary bill, even if something they don't want is attached, because the attached bill may be what "convinced" another member to vote for the primary bill and pass it. That's also how what is referred to as "pork" goes through. Sometimes a bill with a lot of unrelated attachments will be referred to as a "Christmas tree" bill. In other words, there are all kinds of little ornaments attached to it...lol!
