Sarah Palin quit.

Maybe she is planning to go for a hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Well, I have 3 theories: or I should say, I have read bloggers today who have put forth 11 or so theories and here are the 3 I find most plausible.

1.) One of those ethics probes in AK has borne fruit and a major scandal is about to break.

2.) Todd is involved in a scandal and she doesn't want the extra attention and publicity that will come with her still being in office.

3.) The "Vanity Fair" reporter is right, and she's suffering from a personality disorder.

In any case, I think she is finished politically. She's not presidential material (nor are most of us; that's not necessarily a criticism). I hope she enjoys the extra time with her family.

I don't think I'll bother to enrich her by reading her upcoming book, however.

The thing that really gets to me about this is that she has tried to turn this into a religious issue, by stating that she "prayed and sought the Lord's will." Where in the Bible or throughout human history has God ever led someone to quit when things get a little tough, or to abandon the task at hand when something more exciting or luctrative comes up?

That's an excellent point, BSLS. It's hard to fathom why she would say that, except that I'm sure her supporters expect her to.

Maybe we need a reality show with Sanford, Palin, and Blago?? "Survivor: Escape from the Executive Office".

I'm sure that many of her conservative supporters who have recently contributed money to her are none too happy.

I hope that her life after politics (if she is out of politics) is as peaceful as her political tenure was turbulent.

If she remains in politics, it will be hard for her to shake the perception that she quit the people of Alaska when the going got tough.

This is one of my dream tasks ... I want to hike the entire length in a single stretch ... don't really care if I'm going N/S or S/N.

Considering she has like a $7 million book deal, she should be quite comfortable.

It's a good thing the last word is not not up to me; if it was, she would have a mop and bucket and would be swamping out the women's restroom at the Greyhound bus depot in Detroit, Michigan.

Maybe I should start a thread on why some consider the current occupant of the Oval Office to be the opposite of the Messiah.
