Ahh ... Classic liberal defense ... And I am guessing Bush doesn't get the same excuse ... As the saying goes ... 'What is good for the goose, is good for the gander' ... Unless of course the gander is a democrat, then if anything goes wrong it is a republicans fault, but if all goes well, they did it all by themselves.

Sure, Bush can have the same excuse. Heck, Reagen even got credit for the release the hostages which Carter worked to achieve. Who wants to deny him of that?

I don't personally care if a politician is Republican or Democrat. Look at any administration, and you will find members of each party promoting good and bad ideas. In our country, one person (i.e. the president) isn't solely responsible for everything.

(1) It's not a classic "liberal" defense ... since I'm not a "liberal".

(2) It's a well known phenomenon that the economic impact of an administration lags behind change of power by 2-4 years. Unfortunately people do not recognize it as such and mistakenly give credit or failure where it is not due.

(3) By all means give Bush the same "excuse" ... he inherited a surplus.
