Finally someone in the media calls him out for saying two different things in a speech!

On a continuum of ideas, as least as assessed by implementation, Obama and Bush seem rather similar.

Check David Brooks’ editorial in today’s New York Times for another view.

I don't agree that they should be held without trail but there is such a thing called preemptive murd3r. These people can, and should, be held responsible for their plans to k1ll.

I agree so the sooner the trial the better.

All of the detainees in Gitmo should be afforded the same rights to our constitution as we are. I didn't agree with how Bush and Co treated them and I'm not agreeing with how Obama is handling it. These people should be put on trail. If the military (or whatever other agency arrested these folks) dropped the ball on collecting the evidence then that is a major "fail" on them. Lets just take a look at the OJ trail. The police/courts really dropped the ball on that one.

Lets get these guys to trail and get it over with. If we convict them great, put them in jail and have them serve the appropriate sentence for their crimes. If we don't, some sort of tracking system needs to be put in place for these people to monitor and insure that they don't return back to their countries to continue in their quest to k1ll again and then we should take a serious look at how the military handles the evidence for these extremely dangerous criminals.

Dwreese,

You are advocating civilian courts using existing law as is applied to civilian prosecutions?

Civilian or military, doesn't matter to me. These guys need to fall under some uniformed code of justice. Not sitting out there in no mans land to sit and rot in prison for the rest of their lives without a trail (unless of course that is the sentence they would get for their crimes, hopefully they get more than life in prison).I mean, what would happen if we actually arrested the wrong guy and some of these people were innocent? How would you like it to be held for the rest of you life if you were innocent? And lets not say it never happens because we all know it does.
