Becauseprintis never biased and never blow anything out of proportion? I'll give you that a lot of it isn't as blatant as the TV stuff, but a lot of biased, reactionarynews coveragestill goes into print.

"...anyone who is laughing about this is a fool IMHO."

Maybe you mean anyone who is panicked about this is feared by the media. Iwon't use the f word.

MEXICO CITY – Mexican officials lowered their swine flu alert level in the capital on Monday and said they will allow universities, cafes, museums and libraries to reopen this week...

No, I said what I mean.

I was responding to you posting "Guys are laughing at this." When people are dying from something (no matter the number), I fail to see ANY humor.

You don't have to use the word fool--I chose to use it. Please do not translate what I post into something that you would prefer it to read.

{edited 576xs to try to be less egotistical)

My question to you about fear was rhetorical. You can read about fearing Citizens in Macchiavelli. Before that the Chinese wrote about it 2,000 years ago.But in all actuality, I believe theAmerican media learned their tricks from another source...

Before I dozed off after work late tonight. I had wanted to edit this to be more friendly. When I awoke to take out my ego parts, I saw you had already responded to me. After seeing your response above, my heart sank. Why I wonder are my words taken out of context (men are laughing at the media gets changed to men are laughing at people dying?)

I think you have a good heart and good intentions and are very intelligent. I'm not perfect and don't mean to laugh atothers. I suppose it's my ego (laughing at sheeple.) Yes it's funny because the MEDIA has exaggerated before. Yes offline guys say "f... the media" per this episode. They aren't laughing at dead bodies, they are giving the media the bird.

I NEVER SAID I'M LAUGHING AT DYING PEOPLE. YOU TWISTED MY WORDS AROUND. Please do not translate what I post into something that you would prefer to read. Men were born to die; this might be alien to your thinking.

Since we don't agree, I won't discuss this matter any further with you. You have every right to your opinion. But I feel that for you this is emotional; for me it's based on historical precedents. Thebelow is not meant to infer anything about youor your knowledge but is rhetorical.

Is the fool educated or uneducated per the above? What is a "fool" in relation to this issue? Would a fool be someone who believes everything they hear on TV news? Besideshistorical precedents of a Citizenry brainwashed by the media I am thinking offuture implications of such. Read the book by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. called Fahernheit something. Does a fool or knowledgeable Citizen question the TV news? Why orwhynot?

Take care & I apologize to you I presently don't have the patience, intellector people skills to end our conflict in peace. Thank you for your patience with me. All good energy.

Bottomline, we are going into hot weather. It's the end of flu season and they are gearing up for next year's flu season and coordinating things now. We aren't ready for a pandemic flu so they are scaring women and Agencies into getting prepared. I know unemployed women on SSI who are absolutley freaking out. Guys are laughing at this.
I have taken nothing out of context. In this post, you said that these women are freaking out while guys are laughing at "this".Presumably, these women are freaking out about the flu, and not because they perceive that the media is out of control and sensationalizing the matter.

If "this" in the last sentence is not an adjective meant to mean the same thing as what these women are freaking out about, you need to try a noun--like "the media", to clarify your meaning. Something to consider in future.

It's not a rhetorical question if you are asking if I meant something else in my post other than what I actually said--and it's never a good idea to ask me a question you don't want an answer to.

Thanks Lizard...Yes....we are a baby-sitting service and are well aware of it.

I can't begin to tell you how many very sick students come to school all year long, and the parents send them to school sick, and then refuse to pick them up.

They are sent back to class to infect the entire classroom!

I recognize that I am in a position to have sick days and to leave my child at home. But this is getting ridiculous!

BTW: Two paraochial schools closed voluntarily today. The health dept said there was no imminent threat, but the parents didn't want to send their kids to school, so they had no choice but to close the schools. I am keeping my eyes and ears open for local news. There is a rumor that the schools may be closed next week. If that happens, parents that have older children or family members will have someone to leave smaller children with while they work. Parents that do not have this option will be very upset, and it may disrupt an already weakened NYC economy because many of my parenst work in the service industry (or are much needed day workers).

*double sigh*[/quote]

Aw the miracle of the school immunization programs. It is little wonder that parents send their children to school when they are sick. Society has demanded we vaccinate them for all the childhood diseases that used to run rampart through our schools. Now rather than risk having their irate neighbors beating on their doors they would rather risk sending their kids to school or to the mall or Walmart to infect some poor unsuspecting pregnant woman so just maybe her baby will be born with birth defects or she may die as is the case recently having to have an early c-section.

God Bless the American Liberals!!
