You've made the mistake of referring to them as babies because to most scientists they are just embryos and not considered to be a human life yet.

Wrong. Most scientists know that humans reproduce by sexual reproduction. When a sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell, and their chromosomes combine, a new life begins.

Actually niether one of you are "wrong" or "right". It's a matter of ones own beliefs as to whether you consider it "life" or not.

So to blatantly tell her she was "wrong", is "wrong" on your part.

ok, I usually ignore these topics, despite my beliefs as it tends to get ugly, but explain this to me then...

Just embryos, right? So what is the difference between a woman having an abortion and say if I got PO'd about my SO cheating and knocking a girl up, so I beat the Heck out of her and caused the unborn "fetus" to die? Just bio-mass right?

please. Nobody is REALLY that stupid. Life is life. I have no problem with trying to find a cure for disease- I'm in the medical field myself. I DO have a problem with destroying life to do so. I donated my children's cord blood for research. I have NO problem donating blood, marrow or the like for research. I refuse t donote what could become a human life.

BTW; I DO know that the Civil war was not fought on the issue of slavery alone, or even as themajor factor(where did I state, or even imply that in my overly hyperbolic, farcical post??!!).

Just thought that I'd throw it in there as another tidbit for you extremeright wingiesto 'chew on', and add to the 'edginess'.

I suppose the first thing the right wing fascists controlling this new 'Fatherland' would do is bring back racial (and religious as well?) slavery, just for 'old times sake", right?

Pacifically, I was referring to this comment.

How postmodern can you get? WHether a living being is alive or not is a matter of opinion.

150 years ago many had the same attitude about considering blacks and "Indians" human beings. Most knew that they are, no doubt, even most racists, but there was considerable debate about whether to consider them people with rights under American law.

It has nothing to do with being "progressive" or "reactionary," "left-wing" or "right-wing," "conservative" or liberal. It is truth vs. the spirit of the times; true vs. false; right and wrong.

True or false, in this case as well as many others, is dependent upon the definition applied.

Postmodern? That's funny. I have visions of the Jetsons.

And how did we get from Stem Cells to Racism? There's some logic.

For me it's not that big of a deal. When people decide to be anti war we can talk about pro life.
