Clinton's in Israel this week.

Bush approved $85mil in 2009 aid to Palestine last year. I don't know what his pledge was to Israel. During Israel's campaign against Hamas last year, which ended on the day Obama was inaugurated, Bush said, "Try not to hit civilians."

Obama had no comment.

Obama's first call as PotUS was to the Palestinians. He took oath, went to his office, and called the Palestinians. He called Israel after Egypt, I believe. He mandated Gitmo close down, gave his first interview to an Arab station, appointed Mitchell as Middle East envoy, and finally, a week later, sat down and talked to Matt Lauer and the folks who elected him.

Obama has since upped the Palestinian aid from$85mil to $900mil ($300mil humanitarian, $600mil to PA for their budget), which is currently going to the table in the Senate/House. The Arabs pledged 1.65bil, and Europe is handing out $550mil. The Saudis alone pledged $1bil.

Obama also pledged $2.55bil to the Israelis in 2009. Again, not sure what Bush's number was.

Everyone except Hamas agrees the Palestinian aid money should not go to Hamas. Aid stopped shipping a while back, when Hamas started jacking the trucks crossing into Gaza. Presently, Hamas controls Palestine. Westerners only want the money to go to Abbas, who only has a grip on the West Bank.

Clinton's again pushing for Palestinian statehood, a sticking point even under Bush, and a driving force during the original 8yrs under Clinton.

The U.S. gives monetary aid to Israel. Israel turns Gaza into rubble. The U.S. gives $900 mil to the Palestinians to rebuild it. What's wrong with that picture ?

Palestine was part of Britain's colonial empire until 1948 (or 1949) until they divided a bunch of stuff up like Palestine (now Jordan), Israel, India, Pakistan, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and a few other places of persistant unrest.

Anyway Palestine and Israel. They've been battling there since (even before but now it's worse). Why aren't the British taking the leading role in the mess they created ? Tony Blair was appointed Britain's special envoy to the region ever since he's been voted out in 2007. Now he's scheduling a trip there - - his first since being assigned that post ! Doh !

Isn't Haliburton invited? Certainly their expertise at milking things could be used here...sarcasm intended.
