My thoughts on this...

The left are more concerned with social issues, such as poverty, healthcare, education, etc and they tend to be more embracing of all people from all parts of life, whether they are poor, rich (maybe not as much :P), black, white, Asian, African, European, etc

The left are generally less concerned with class or stature. They tend to be less racist and and more concerned about the welfare of all.

The right are more concerned with wealth accummulation, security (their own and their country), economic stability (their own and their country) and ability to earn as much as they can to make their life as comfortable as possible.

The right are generally more concerned with class and stature. They tend to be more racist (especially the further right you get) and less concerned about the welfare of others not directly related to them.

ok- i'll take the bait...

i am a conservative- what you would call a right-winger. but you have me characterized wrongly.

i am concerned about poverty- i want the poor to be able to accumulate wealth.

i am concerned about healthcare- i want the government to allow the poor to accumulate enough wealth that they can pay for their own healthcare.

i am concerned about education- i want the federal governemnt out of education as mandated in the constitution and left in the hands of those that know the children best- the parents.

i am not racist- i want the opportunity to get ahead without someone of another race getting a leg up that i did not get being raised a poor white child.

i am not racist or less concerned about those around me. on the contrary. but i want the government out of OUR way so that WE can all do for ourselves whatever we can to beter ourselves.

sexism comes in both genders- racists come in all colors- classism comes from all economic levels.

true conservatives want the government as much out of our way as possible so that we can all do better. because we believe that the individual- not the collective- can best be trusted to do what is right.

What about Libertarians and Statists? Would they be considered the "up and down"?

It wasnt bait.....

I was just thinking about it when I started to do some research on fascism....

And do note the use of "generally" and that racism was more the further right you go....

Yes I agree that there are various forms of left and right from very moderate to the extreme and you have made some great points.... interesting... not that I necessarily agree with it, but its still interesting to see how people who think very differently from me actually think and the logic behind their reasoning...

You forgot one big difference

The left uses other people's money toexpress their convictionsand beleifs

The right uses their own money for such things.

Yeah, that explains all the pork-barrel spending that got a lot of Republicans voted out of office......c'mon, you can't really believe that.

I don't think the old left/right designations really hold water any longer. It used to be that the right wanted government out of people's personal decisions, yet they are the party that wants to restrict the civil rights of gay Americans and that, a few years back, made a mockery of themselves interfering in the Terry Schiavo case.

... sadly, the republicans are far from the 'right' any longer. imho, our political system is likedriving a car that's badly out of alignment, and keeps pulling to the left..
