We're a mixed bag here. There are far right, far left, and those of us that ride the fence. We will never agree on everything. The election of Barak Obama has brought sense of optimism that so far, has outweighed any real deeds on his part. My question is targeted at those of you who voted for the man, and have such high expectations.

What brings these huge expectations ? And what exactly do you think he will change to make America, and your life better ? (And please leave out any comparisons to past administrations, leave it to what will be better with B.O. in office)

And let's try to keep this civil.

Why do you assume that everyone who voted for him has "huge" expectations. I do not; I never do. But I can't help but be optimistic about, for example, a return to a respect for science (which has not been present for years), an administration that believes inthe pursuit and consideration of a wide range of opinions and perspectives and thatbelieves that the rule of law is important, and so on. I do not expect miracles. I expect that there will be many times in the years ahead when I will be disappointed. But, I believe that this country is in desperate need of a change in leadership and that Obama has what it takes to move us in a positive direction.

He has been in office approximately 51 hours right now. Obviously, that is way too soon to have a track record. If we check back in 100 days (still way too soon for the major turnarounds that are needed with, for example, the economy), I will probably be able to point both to changes that I'm happy about, as well as ones with which I disagree.

If we check back in 100 days........
100 days... that will nearly eclipse the experience he had in the US Senate, won't it?

odd that we would put this junior senator into the highest elected office, but yet scream of Palin's 'inexperience'.. talk about a double standard. hahahahaha

I don't assume anything. And where in my post did you see the word "everyone" ? I'm sure some voted for B.O. because they thought we simply needed a change, not because of any great expectations. But there are many out there who do expect miracles. I'm just wondering why. A simple question, i'm not looking for a pi**ing match.

I'm sorry -- I shouldn't have stated it that way. I think I was responding more to sentiment I've seen from others. What I meant is "Why is it sometimes assumed..." or something like that. I appreciated your question and was attempting to respond in a straightforward way.

Certainly that's a comment for another thread and not this one, no? I believe that the OP's question is a good one and that he is looking for thoughtful responses.
