I'm sure you could think of something. Here are some ideas.

Civil Liberties

1. Legalization of Drugs

The anti-drug effort in the U.S. has criminalized a large part of society and at significant costs, with little regard for the impact drugs have on human health. Legalization would give the government the ability to tax and regulate.

2. Mandatory Pledge of Allegance

In response to the surge of patriotism following Sept 11, local lawmakers across the U.S. introduced legislating that would make it mandatory for public schools to start the day with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Domestic Policy

1. Slavery Reparations

A movement in the US which seeks the apology of the government and reparations in the form of money, land, or other goods to slave descendants, for its role in the institution of slavery prior to 1865.

2. Affirmative Action

Policies intended to promote access to education or employment aimed at a historically socio-politically non-dominant group, typically minorities and women.

Military Defense

1. The Patriot Act

The USA Patriot Act, which extends the power of law enforcement agencies in pursuing suspected terrorists, has caused outrage for perceived violations of civil liberties.

2. Gays in the Military

Previously, homosexuals were banned from joining the armed forces. Under current law, non-heterosexual behavior cannot be discussed or investigated and is subject to discharge.

Religion

1. Intelligent Design

Intelligent design refers to a modern argument that God informed the development of some features of the universe and living things, which counters the indirect natural selection process as described by Charles Darwin's theories on evolution.

2. Public Display of the 10 Commandments

High Courts in the U.S. are divided over whether displaying religious symbols violates the Establishment Clause of the 1st Amendment. This debate has become a hot issue in American politics used to appeal to religious conservatives.

Technology

1. Stem Cell Research

Stem Cell research is a type of health care research involving a specialized regenerative cells. The research is specifically controversial because of the destruction of human embryos or therapeutic cloning in the research process.

2. Manned Mission to Mars

Since the end of the Apollo program, which successfully placed a man on the moon, there have been rumors of a manned mission to the Red Planet.

There's a few. Tired of seeing my name on the board so you can post something. I guess I need a job (and a life) lol.

How about "Why does everyone and their mother seem to have a Peanuts image for their avatar now?"

I'll take Intelligent Design for $200, Dwreese!

Seriously, that is probably my most favorite topic to ponder...Science and God. When I was twelve a teacher once said to me, "Why couldn't Adam and Eve be apes?" . And from that day forward, I have always been curious about the origins of man and the universe. Not sure how many others are interested in this topic but I find it fascinating. I have never articulated my thoughts on the matter so I am not sure if I even can, but it could be fun trying and it would be very interesting for me to see what others have to say about this.

That's too politically charged.

For some reason I knew someone was gonna say intelligent design. I cannot stand that debate. Intelligent design is a classic example of religion using the bible to fill in the unknown with ignorance. That's my stand on it. I can't really debate further than that.

How about looking at itas the classic example of Can science make the bible believable?

Just last night, I watched a show on science and exodus. Red tide could lead to all of the plagues that occurred. The parting of the Red Sea could have happened due to winds and an underwater ridge. The bible even specifically mentions the winds in the parting of the red sea. I find that highly coincidental that winds would be specifically mentioned in regards to the parting of the Red Sea.

Why does it always have to be one or the other? Why can't the big bang becreated by God? To me, science was created by God so why wouldn't God use science to create the universe. There are all kinds of wonderful scientific theories out there that do not contradict religion. I am not religious by any means but I do find this stuff so very interesting. I especially find it interesting because so many religious people think you can not have science if you believe in God. To me, they seem to prove each other...but that is me!

I would think if I was a scientist, it would be hard not to think there is some sort of design. How can you get order out of chaos? Is that even possible?

Of course some of the amazing feats in the bible could have some scientific explanation. I don't argue that. Cities being destroyed, water being separated, the creation of the universe all can be explained by science....maybe some of them are not within our grasp of knowledge at this moment but I believe that in time it will be explained. I have no problem of dieing without knowing the exact truth though. I refuse to substitute the knowledge of what really happened with an omnipotent magical being that pulled everything out of a hat and said, "poof, here it is.". That is not logical. However, I believe that something had to start it all though, so I do not deny the possibility of a "beginning" with a "creator" but then of course the "creator" has to have a beginning as well. I, like much of humanity, have a problem understanding the term of "infinite". To our knowledge everything has a beginning and an end. The term "nothingness" also is hard to comprehend. To me, religion tries to fill in the gap with magic and "I said so"'s. Of course a simple, "because I said so" works for some people.

I denouce religion in its entirety, but to have a belief I have no problem with. Too many religious folks simply disregard anything other than what their church tells them as blasphemy and a ticket straight to h ell. These fear tactics and narrow minded views lead to nothing but igno rance and wars with no possibility of advancement.

Just my 2 cents.
