If you could come up with a list of songs that would comprise your life's soundtrack to-date, which songs would you pick? Here is my list:

"The Soundtrack Of My Life"

1) "Start"-The Jam (Sure, it's a ripoff of "Taxman", but I love nothing better than a good old-fashioned rocker and potboiler to kick off things!)
2) "Baby Blue"-Badfinger (One of my favorite bands. Can definitely relate to this song's lyrics: "All that time without a word"/"Didn't know you'd think that I'd forget or I'd regret the special love I had for you, my Baby Blue")
3) "Twisted Logic"-Coldplay (Nice, slow, dreamy song that has great music + lyrics)
4) "Take The Long Way Home"-Supertramp (Yes, it's a popular song but I really like it and I'm a big fan of Supertramp.)
5) "Paranoid"-Black Sabbath (Great rocker and I do have a tendency to be paranoid at times.)
6) "The Waiting"-Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (Huge Petty & The Heartbreakers fan, too. Just love this song and the lyrics.)
7) "Thorn Tree In The Garden"-Derek & The Dominoes (Very beautiful ballad that is the last track on their "Layla" album.)
8) "Cleanup Time"-John Lennon (Very underrated Lennon track and really does describe recent circumstances in my life.)
9) "We Gotta Get You A Woman"-Todd Rundgren (Title says it all. Great song, too.)
10) "Lover's Cross"-Jim Croce (I love Croce's music and this one is very underrated.)
11) "Don't Ask Me Why"-Billy Joel (One of my favorites of his and I like the Beatlesque sound to it.)
12) "Going To California"-Led Zeppelin (Love the song and really do plan on going to California.)
13) "In My Life"-The Beatles (my favorite Beatles song)
14) "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"-Elton John (Nice song and a great way to conclude the soundtrack, no?)

First of all, thanks for once again posting a topic that really makes you think. And on top of that, it's about music which is always good! I thought about different points in my life and what song stood out...here's a first draft. (Oh, and thank you for reminding me about "Lover's Cross" by Jim Croce. I used to play that song over and over and had to go look for my cassette so I could hear it again!)

1. "What the Man Says" - Paul McCartney & Wings (Anytime I hear this, it brings back many summer road trips from Montana to Texas with my parents and sister.)

2. "Miracles" - Jefferson Airplane (the first 45 I ever bought...)

3. "Detroit Rock City" - KISS (teenage years...need I say more!)

4. "Starry, Starry Night" - Don McClean and "Moondance" - Van Morrison

5. "Turn the Page" - Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band

6. "Hard to Say" - Dan Fogelberg and "The Winner Takes It All" - ABBA - these could have been the background music forthe last couple of years for me

7. "The Flame" - Cheap Trick (just one of my favorites of all time - the lyrics are incredible)

1. Harvest - Opeth (esoteric and romantic side summarized)

2. Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads (sensation of cultural anomie)

3. Life - Devin Townsend (remaining optomistic and virtuous even when life only hands you shit)

4. Thick as a Brick - Jethro Tull (intellectual disposition)

5. Point of No Return - Kansas (facing consequences)

6. Hide Nowhere - Devin Townsend (meeting challenges)

7. Not Unlike the Waves - Agalloch (religious confusion)

8. The Drapery Falls - Opeth (end of a terrible relationship, starting a new)

Who knows where life will take me next, =P?
