Yup, Clearchannel is the devil. My personal favorite is the couple stations they have in each market with some version of the slogan "we play anything" which in reality amounts to a computer with a really long playlist on shuffle. Listen to it for more than a day and you begin to remember why some of those songs aren't still played.

Hotel California wins my vote hands down. If I never ever hear that song again it will be far too soon.

Also on the list, Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting, and Crocodile Rock by Elton John.

Also Get off of my cloud, and under my thumb by the Stones. Now don't get me wrong I love the Stones but damn, play some other songs for the love of god.

The only saving grace on the classic rock station around here is a program called little steven's underground garage, where on the classic rock station around here you might actually here some classics from the 50's and 60's along with some brand new indie and foreign stuff.

lol, beatlejuice, i have to agree with all 10 of your songs. i'm so sick of Tom Sawyer i have to turn the radio off when it comes on (i only listen in the car). i've noticed that there are consecutive days when they're playing the exact same song at any given moment in my working routine (getting in the car to go to work, approaching the light at Townline and Yale...)

i wouldn't give up my classic rock station, though, because i actually enjoy the DJs i'm slightly amused that Nirvana and Green Day are now considered "classic"... i guess so.

LexLoci, we get Little Steven over here too. He's great.

beatlejuice I love the classic rock but out of the 10 songs you listed I have only heard of 'Sweet Home Alabama.' I prefer the 50's and 60's rock. As for the person who dislikes the Doors and the song 'Light My Fire' things could be worse. You ought to listen to Jose Feliciano's version of 'Light My Fire.' His version sounds like a sick cow mooing. I personally would rather listen to my MP3 player.

Two words: satellite radio. I got one a couple of months ago and once you get XM/Sirius, you'll never listen to terrestrial radio ever again.

"Stairway to Heaven"- If I hear it coming,I change the station.(and I like Led Zep) "Purple Haze"- I love Jimi Hendrix, but for some reason,99% of the time if they play Hendrix,it's that same song.He has a HUGE catalogue-especially with all the new releases."Light my Fire",hey Jim Morrison was sick of it himself 40 years ago! "Mercedes Benz" or "Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin, again,LOVE the artist- not her best stuff AT ALL.

It seems like everytime I get in the car and switch on the radio, I get to listen to:

"American Pie" - I forget the artist. Don someone?

"Janie's Got A Gun" - Aerosmith.

"Centrefold" - don't know the artist.

And that song about a bunch of red balloons ... we get to listen to the German version!
