Digging out from the snow and changing up cds again:

Terrifyer by Pig Destroyer - like the last album I listened to (Prowler...) it's a concept album, mostly backed up by a story in the liner notes & a 38 minute drone/doom companion dvd audio track (there is a normal cd version I'd like to pick up eventually). My fav PD song Gravedancer is off this album.

Addicted by The Devin Townsend Project - Part 2 of the 4 part DTP series and wildy different from the very mellow Ki. More lighthearted like DTB's Synchestra (see my earlier post) but more poppier than metal...a lot of pop. I'm reminded of Lucia Cifarelli's (of KMFDM) solo album From the Land of Volcanos which despite a KMFDM driven back end is 9/10's a pop album at heart. Both are great though.

Epitaph by Necrophagist - Whereas Onset was Muhammed's one man show, the second album shows what he can do when joined by talented musicians. The classical moments are my favorites, especially the Prokofiev outro on Only Ash Remains which made my father, a classically trained musician and former principle percussionist of a major philharmonic orchestra nod in approval. Score one for Technical Death Metal.

The Scattering of Ashes by Into Eternity - In past posts I commented on how much I enjoy the band with Stu Block and this was his first album with them. My favorite of all they have out, especially Timeless Winter.

Symmetric in Design by Scar Symmetry - In the favorite vocalist thread I posted Christian Älvestam and this past weekend I was listening to Holographic Universe (his last album w/SS) so I decided to start at the beginning.

The New Black by Strapping Young Lad - The final SYL album before Devin went through a period of reclusiveness and emerged in a solo artist only mode sans his once trademark skullet. In fact him in said skullet and tixedo from the Wrongside video plagued my post-birthday hangover over a month back. Never again...

'Haven't Met You Yet' by Michael Buble from the Brit Awards Album 2010.

I really think this would be an excellent theme song for EHA and EH.

Updating the car's cd mag, finally finished going through all my Devin Towsend stuff:

Phantom Limb by Pig Destroyer - Their latest and probably my favorite. This album they officially added a 4th member Blake (who handles sampling). Coincidentally we used to work for the same company until I was laid off following a hostile takeover, though we have a mutual friend we only spoke at the Xmas party & maybe the Crab Feast in the summers.

Soul of a New Machine by Fear Factory - starting with the debut (newest album came in the mail today). Not including the Concrete demos it's their only pure death metal release and not as good as the follow up Demanufacture.

The Incurable Tragedy by Into Eternity - Written after friends and family of Stu Block & Tim Roth died of cancer. Strikes a chord with me because my best friend's sister dies a few years ago from cancer as well.

Fused Together In Revolving Doors by The Red Chord - Great Death/Grind from Mass. Love these guys, disappointed I missed them roll through with GWAR recently.

Terra Incognito by Gojira - Up until this October the only way this cd was available in the US was by shelling out $50, I am very thankful they re-released their debut, stand up well to the rest of their catalog. Environmentally focused Prog/Death Metal, the drumming is especially awesome.

Pitch Black Progress by Scar Symmetry - The opener The Illusionist is one of the prime examples of how powerful Christian Älvestam's vocals are.
