It's not often that I listen to Metal. But I am getting on that kick again. I just picked up a couple albums by "Heaven Shall Burn" and have ripped them to MP3. I need more music to listen to in the car. Give me your death metal reccomendations....

To give you an idea, when I DO listen to Metal, here are the bands I generally like: Cradle Of Filth, Lamb of God, Nile, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Give me some speed on the guitars, some furious howling, and a slightly unique sound.

Thanks,

-D.

Gross Old Man! Ok, well I am bit biased since I am their manager. Just search for them on youtube or myspace or mixi. There is also a link (but not such a great one) on my profile page.

The audio wasn't great that I've heard so far. But it sounds pretty decent. So where do I go to buy stuff? Hrm?

Cradle of Filth? Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Insomnium, Opeth, Dark Tranquility,

Lamb of God similarities? MachineHead, Chimaira, DevilDriver, God Forbid, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Pantera, Throwdown, Unearth, Bleeding Through, new Testament (kicks ass, btw)

Nile? Pig Destroyer, Suffocation, Necrophagist, Cannibal Corpse, Beneath the Massacre,

Black Dahlia Murder? ALL SHALL PERISH, DevilDriver, Necrophagist, Arsis, Cephalic Carnage, Job For A Cowboy, Between the Buried And Me

All of these bands have recent releases that have very good to awesome production quality, so no crappy half-ass basement recordings here!

Opeth is awesome, on a side note.

I heartily second the Opeth recomendation. Their talent level is ridiculous. Blackwater Park may be their best album, but everything they do is amazing so everything else is right on par. They do an astounding job of mixing growls with clean vocals in their songs. The melodies are beautiful and the riffs are downright scary. They are a genre of their own.
