With everything digital and quality mini Hi Fi systems the size of a credit card being able to hold a gazillion songs does anyone even bother listening to the radio anymore? I know internet radio and satellite has become really popular; I’m talking about old fashioned AM and FM.

Does anyone listen to radio anymore? If so what is your favorite station or program?
I do, occasionally, but while I am in Lincoln, NE, I have to access my stations from St. Louis through my phone. My favorites are any station with Bott Radio or KSHE 95, the oldest running rock station in our country.

I live in the Philly area and like rock, so my choice of radio station is WMMR. I will be moving soon, but luck would have it that they have an application of phones where you can listen anywhere.

I used to volunteer at KCRW's pledge drives -- it's an NPR station in LA that has a lot of music programming, mostly indie bands, and some great DJs. It was fun to see the DJs in person and meet them, after having their voices and personalities in my head. They also broadcast a lot of live performances from their studio.

Radio's pretty great. And now a lot of stations can be streamed on the internet.

I love radio! I have never stopped listening to the radio in my car, or sometimes in the house. I do like the banter of the DJ's. A couple of years ago, one of my favorite radio stations (they played mostly 70's-80's dance music) called in all of their staff and fired them on the spot. They went to one of those "music programs" with no DJ's - just music and ads. I hardly ever listen to that station anymore.

Some of my favorite DJ's popped up on other stations, so I listen to those stations now. With radio, it's not just the "music" - it's the "radio personalities". A lot of them in the Boston area have been in the business for 20+ years. They're familiar, like family members. Who doesn't love "Matty in the Morning"?

I remember how for Christmas 1984 I got a "boom box" and I was so excited. Finally, I could record songs off the radio without having to jam a tape recorder up against the speaker (people my age will remember doing this). The radio station we used to listen to was 103.3FM, and on New Years Day they played "The Top 103 of '84" countdown. With my new boom box, I planned to record all of the songs on the countdown. The songs fit on 4-5 tapes, which I still have somewhere...
