Oh, yeah, we didn't do a lot of track skipping back then...

That's funny!

One thing I liked about the LP (and CD world) was the "concept album". That's gotten diluted, with mp3 and track-skipping etc. It was too much trouble to skip tracks with LPs!
I too love concept albums. The newer process of "licensing" music one track at a time kills that, whether vinyl or cd it's better to listen to whole beast, liner notes in hand. Thankfully the bands that still want to do them will continue to do them regardless of format.

Yay for concept albums!

Recently I checked a book out of the library that was "spy stories" in the short-story section. Turned out to be single chapters from a variety of spy novels. I'm not gonna read that!!

Same idea.

Vinyl may not be superior to say a CD or MP3. But the crackles and pops that you hear are part of the experience. For me, I like listening to vinyl now and again because it's a great experience.

For every day type of music it's the MP3 player for most now. For a night at home with some friends and a unique experience where you just want to play some music and not worry about skipping songs, vinyl is great.
