Anything from jazz, pop, all time favorites, romantic, etc.

My top 9:
1. Just The Way You Are- Billy Joel
2. 100 Years- Five For Fighting
3. Somos Novios
4. Saving All My Love For You (hey don't judge lol)
5. Claire De Lune (boy I wish I could play it though)
6. Autumn Leaves
7. My Heart Will Go on (don't judge lol)
8. Maple Leaf Rags...(trying to learn this too)
9. It's just the way it is...
Anybody care to share theirs? I haven't practiced or played in a while so I need to brush up on good songs...especially since I might get invited to play at a party in a few weeks....

The goal is to have up to 15 'quality' ones....or maybe I'll reduce it to 5-10 if it involves needing to play stuff like Claire De Lune.

I got the simpler ones down like Billy Joel's, or the Saving All My love, etc...

It'll be an informal party, but I wanna be able to play about 90-120 minutes total...with rests and tinkering some easy tunes here and there.

Unless it's against any kind of community guidelines, please post any you tube link (or you can PM me) if you found a good piano solo or instrumental version on any recent songs (kinda like maroon 5, etc)

My daughter is starting piano lessons and I am kinda learning alongside her. My dream would be to play Bruce Hornsby songs.

The way it is is just a gorgeous piano song. I also love a duet he did with Bonnie Raitt on her "I can't make you love me." And don't forget Purple Rain by Prince.

Good luck!

Ok!
as far a playing at a party...what's the mood? anything goes? ages?
In the meantime I love "Fur Elise"...love the story behind it, too...

And my ten year old plays it very well, so, that's your incentive.

I'll think of some more.

I love November Rain! That was what sprung to mind when I saw this thread topic (fun topic, PY!!!)

Also - anything by Tori Amos, especially her earlier stuff like the Little Earthquakes album. SO good.

Mood....just relaxed...bunch of people having appetizers, drinks, my guess ages range from late 20s-mid 40s?

Party maybe late afternoon....to evening...so I want a range of kinda semi-upbeat fun song to medium tempo...and everything else like the mainstream jazz (Nat King Cole, etc) I got that covered already...but still open for suggestions.

I agree...Tori Amos definitely got a very unique tone to her songs....if I could just find something with somewhat simple melody and maybe not too depressing either...seems all her songs have that 'sad' quality to it...
