Push- Matchbox 20 is a good anger-filled song.

Ok here is a real recent addition to break up songs by a band that would typically not write a song like this. The name of the title is creepy, but the song itself is not. I wasn't aware we were allowed to post Youtube links so I'll post a Youtube link of the song:

A lot of good stuff out there...

Here are a few from my broad, and rather eclectic collection:

Soft rock- If You Leave Me Now, Chicago

Hard rock- Save Your Love, & House Of Broken Love (extended live version), Great White

Classic Country- It Was Almost Like A Song, Ronnie Milsap

Cover- Stormy, Carlos Santana version

More personal to me- Annie's Song, John Denver

...I'm from Colorado, so it's state law that you have to own at least 2 tracks from John Denver, if not his whole catalog, but the upshot is that you're allowed to roll your eyes just a little further back in your head when one of his songs comes on the radio, than people from the other 49 states.

Hi justme27 and Everyone,

Great thread and great songs!

It may be a bit trite, but my favorite is "I Will Survive." The
Gloria Gaynor version is classic, but I really like Cake's version!

Looking forward to reading other member favorites.

All the best,

-Renee

Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks:

How Can I Miss You When You Won't Go Away

I've talked to your mother and I've talked to your dad,
They say they've tried but it's all in vain.
I've begged and I've pleaded, I even got mad,
Now we must face it, you give me a pain.

cho: How can I miss you when you won't go away?
I keep telling you day after day,
But you won't listen, you always stay and stay,
How can I miss you when you won't go away?

Out of three billion people, why must it be me?
OhOh why, oh why won't you cut me loose?
D Do me a favor and listen to my plea
I'm not the only chicken in the roost.

Your never-ending presence really cramps my style,
I dream that it won't always be the same.
At first I was attracted, but after a while,
Have you ever heard of a "hard to get" dame?"

Gone, Gone, Gone by Alison Krause and Robert Plant. Not quite a post break up song, more of a "you'll get yours" song.

For the general bittersweet wallowing in betrayal and/or heartbreak, I like Leonard Cohen. Bird on a Wire or Joan of Arc in particular, but a lot of his music evokes that feeling.

How can I forget this classic to listen to when you have just broken up and are in the down and out phase. I love this song!
