There are many many songs which have not been mentioned that clearly belong to some of the finest songs ever written. I am a 78 year old that tries to be a musician to my family of relatives. Every reunion we gather around the fire pit for sing a longs. My musical instrument is the Q-chord made by Suzuki. Others play instruments from 8 to 4 string quitars. Even ukes and fiddles. My grandkids love songs like "the lime and the coconut," "I've got a loverly bunch of coconuts,"and various Disney tunes. So you see, age groups mean a lot to designating the "Greatest Songs Ever Written." "Somewhere over the Rainbow" is another one of these great songs. Getting away from the youthful age, I personally like "John Dunbar's Theme," and stuff like that from music backgrounds from movies. Remember Luther Vandross and some of the songs that he sang? They stayed with you, of course, anything that Luther sang has a tendency to stay with you. He was such a great singer. And I do like songs like "Massachusetts" and "How can you Mend a Broken Heart" by the Bee-Gees, or "Dancing Queen" by APPBA. And many of you have listed songs that I have completely forgotten. I thank you for that. Isn't this a great characteristic of human nature, to be able to hear and sing these great songs, whatever they might be. So those of you that havn't commented yet, please add your stuff. It is fun to be reminded of what we have temporarily forgotten.

The sounds of nature while camping. I'm very eclectic but don't memorize band members etc. My buddies did that. All my language teachers told me I can hear better than most and I pick up accents easily. I can hear music and when it's off key, it KILLS me! Feels like a screwdriver going thru my brain.

Plus I can listen to music everyday and then stop for months...it's weird. I love good vocals like Sting and Simon. Well I've got so many artists of different music types...

The most Beautiful songs is ....difficult (great topic). The emotion conjured up by theadj 'beautiful' is - hmmm vastly different than say the most fun song or humorous or feel good song - But off the top of my head:

Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues

Tuesday Afternoon - The Moody Blues

For My Lady - The Moody Blues

Scarborough Fair - Simon & Garfunkel

Leaving on A Jet Plane - Peter Paul & Mary

The Moonlight Sonata - Beethoven

Darn! I can't think of the name of it but one by Tchaikovsky in the Nutcracker Suite
