Like the title says, do guitar players get all the girls?

I myself am a drum player. I can't help but get the feeling that girls look at drum players as a loud or crazy bunch. I mean, we're just beating on drum heads after all right?

Do you think other types of musicians are looked at in a favorable / unfavorable light based on the instrument they play? Just a thought.

Here's a video that got me thinking about it in the first place. It's a collegehumor video, so don't take it too seriously!

I do think that many women find certain instruments cooler then others.

For example, I am one of the best Jew's harp players in the U.S. (Bronze medalist at the 2007 15th Annual North American Jew's Harp Festival), but have never managed to parlay my musical talents into a date.

The myth that musicians get lots of dates is just that,a myth, the average bar band gets a few bucks and free beer and that's about it,of course it's different for stars but most musicians are not stars.

Playing clubs and venues will put you in a great setting to be around a lot of women, however its still going to be up to you as an individual. As BandMate eluded to, if you're a major 'star' you're going to have a wider audience and you'll be part of the 'main stream' media/social crowd type, where again, you'll be exposed to that much more people.

guitar players do get all the girls, especially if they can play Dave Matthews, Ben Harper, or Jason Mraz

but drummers can get girls too, you just have to play in a decent band and play out on a semi-regular basis...and some girls like it when you rock it shirtless

**whips out the Dave Matthews...here we go!

I look forward to reuniting with my guitars when I move in six weeks. If I were going to do the online dating thing again, I would be wise to get some good guitar shots. Oh well.

I have to say that I am very attracted to musicians and go out to see live local bands every weekend. But,I amattracted to the personality behind the musical instrument, meaning #1 are you talented, #2 are you personable off-stage (can you hang out and have/make conversation), #3 can you confidently command a crowd and bring enthusiasm. I've dated musicians for last 15 years and 6 of those were with the keyboard player who could bring the song to the music. I often see drummers as the stable, consistant beats behind all the rest of the band - directing the band, bringing energy...so not too many over the top spazzy types! FYI - I don't recommend dudes putting a pic of themselves with a guitar (or other instrument)on eH, unless they actually play. One guy I met on eH did that, and he doesn't really play, soits seemsvery misleading and kind of silly!

Well guitar players who play that stuff won't get me! Those bands are so over-rated!

I'm all about the drummers! Wish I could play myself. Not that guitar players aren't sexy, I just prefer the drummers.
