If guitar players got the girls, Then I should be getting better luck. Unfortunately that's not the case...

I definitely wouldn't want a girl to be with me just because I'm a guitar player. I want a real relationship.

Who says it's not a real relationship? The art or skill of being a musician is just another trait of admiration or attraction someone may have towards you. Embrace all that you have and give. Take your skill as a gift that others wish they had on their resume of life experiences. Being silly but truthful here, does a successful fisherman using better bait complain to his less fortunate fishing buddy using lesser quality, that he's not happy to be getting so many bites? Damn those fish for liking the better attention getting bait! Whether you can keep the relationship and sustain it, now THAT is the focus I think. It's not what you do as much as it is how you do it that gets more attention.
just my .02 cents.

No, playing guitar has never helped me. In fact, I used to play lead in a band in college and we would finish our set and the girls in the audience would flock to all the other members of the band and I would be left to pick up the equipment myself, more like a roadie.

Being a guitarist myself, I would say it's a tossup between the singer and the guitarist.

I dunno - I get a lot more smiles and winks when I practice my tenor sax in front of my apt. building than I ever did with my guitar...

I've been playing guitar for 10 years now. Hasn't got me a single date, granted I don't play in bands. I still go to the local pond or park and play the acoustic. Doesn't do much, people walk past you as they normally would.

I dunno - if you ask this over at the Acoustic Guitar Forum, most of the guys would say, absolutely! And many admit that's why they started playing...

But, why not vice versa? Most guys can't even TALK to me after I've been playing at sessions or gigs...
